Jock Gilfillan
John Gilfillan (29 September 1898 – 1976) was a Scottish-born footballer who played as a goalkeeper in the 1920s and 1930s, notably with Portsmouth. He joined Heart of Midlothian from his local team Inverkeithing United, and played for Hearts in a 1922–23 Scottish Cup tie against Bo'ness. He was later loaned to East Fife, and played for them in the 1927 Scottish Cup Final against Celtic. Townhill, Fife
Townhill is a small village that lies just north of Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland. The origin of the community is thought to be from the coal-mining industry. There is a Church of Scotland parish church, which shares a minister with nearby Kingseat. History There has been references to a village in the area as early as 1322 when the village and nearby loch were known as Monquhir, Moncur or Moncor. The village was renamed Dunfermline Coaltown in the 18th century before the name was changed to Townhill in the early 19th century. The name was changed to Townhill due to the location of the village which is at the top of the hill leading out of Dunfermline. The 1934 FA Cup Final was won by Manchester City in a 2–1 win over Portsmouth. The match is most remembered for a young Frank Swift's heroics in goal and the predictions of City forward Fred Tilson. The match was also refereed by future FIFA president Stanley Rous, in his penultimate game as an official. The 1929 FA Cup Final was an association football match between Bolton Wanderers and Portsmouth on 27 April 1929 at Wembley Stadium. Bolton won 2–0, with goals by Billy Butler and Harold Blackmore. It marked the 54th final of the Football Association Challenge Cup (FA Cup), the world's oldest football cup competition. It was Portsmouth's first FA Cup final and Bolton's fifth.
