Joannes Chrysostomus Teniers, the religious name of Joannes Jacobus Teniers,P.J. Hanicq, ''Catalogus omnium primorum in generali et solemni philosophiæ et artium promotione: ab origine celeberrimæ Universitatis Lovaniensis'', Université catholique de Louvain (1835-1969), 1824, p. 96 also known as Jan Jacob or Jean-Jacques Teniers (1653–1709) was a Flemish preacher and poet. He was the abbot of the St. Michael's Abbey in Antwerp and in that capacity also the Lord of Berendrecht and Santvliet. Life Joannes Chrysostomus Teniers was born in Antwerp, the son of Melchior Teniers and Maria de Backer. He was baptised there on 28 January 1653 with the birth name Joannes Jacobus Teniers. After studying the Liberal Arts at Leuven University Teniers entered St Michael's Abbey, Antwerp, a house of the Premonstratensian Order. Jan Erasmus Quellinus (1634 in Antwerp – 11 March 1715 in Mechelen) was a Flemish painter and draughtsman and a member of the famous Quellinus family of artists. He was one of the last prominent representatives of the great Flemish school of history and portrait painting in the 17th century. His work displays the classicizing influences of his father Erasmus Quellinus the Younger and Paolo Veronese. Tongerlo Abbey
Tongerlo Abbey is a Premonstratensian monastery at Tongerlo in Westerlo near Antwerp, Belgium. History It was founded in 1128 in honour of the Blessed Virgin Mary, by Giselbert of Kasterlee, who not only gave the land, but also himself became a lay brother in the new community. The first monks were sent from St. Michael's Abbey, Antwerp, under Henry, who had come with Saint Norbert, founder of the Premonstratensian Order, to Antwerp to extirpate the Tanchelmite heresies. The charter of its foundation was signed, amongst others, by Bernard of Clairvaux and by Waltman, first abbot of Antwerp. The Bishop of Cambrai granted synodal rights to the abbots. From small beginnings the abbey became influential in the district called Campine, now in north-east Belgium and the south of the Netherlands, then a wild area. The Order of Canons Regular of Prémontré (), also known as the Premonstratensians, the Norbertines and, in Britain and Ireland, as the White Canons (from the colour of their habit), is a religious order of canons regular of the Catholic Church founded in Prémontré near Laon in 1120 by Norbert of Xanten, who later became Archbishop of Magdeburg. Premonstratensians are designated by ''OPraem'' (''Ordo Praemonstratensis'') following their name. Norbert was a friend of Bernard of Clairvaux and was largely influenced by the Cistercian ideals as to both the manner of life and the government of his order.
