Jo Peters Poëzieprijs
The Jo Peters Poëzieprijs ("Jo Peters Poetry Award") is a Dutch biennial award given to beginning poets. The award includes a monetary prize of E2500 and the publication of a collection of new poems. The award is named for Jo Peters (1937-2001), the former publisher and poetry editor of the literary press Herik. It is awarded to poets who have published no more than two collections, and the monetary prize is awarded in two installments: one on the night of the award ceremony (the "Evening of New Poetry", in the Dutch town of Landgraaf, and the other a year later, on the occasion of the publication of a set of new poems, published in a limited, bibliophilic edition. Bibliophilia or bibliophilism is the love of books. A bibliophile or bookworm is an individual who loves and frequently reads and/or collects books. ''NRC'', previously called ''NRC Handelsblad'' (), is a daily morning newspaper published in the Netherlands by NRC Media. It is generally accepted as a newspaper of record in the Netherlands. Ester Naomi Perquin
Ester Naomi Perquin (born 16 January 1980) is a Dutch poet. She was born in Utrecht and grew up in Zierikzee. Perquin worked in the prison service to pay for her studies at the school of creative writing in Amsterdam. She was editor for the literary journal ''Tirade'' and wrote a column for the weekly ''De Groene Amsterdammer''. Perquin was also the city poet for Rotterdam for two years. Her first collection of poetry ''Servetten Halfstok'' (Napkins At Half Mast) was published in 2007. This was followed by ''Namens de ander'' (On Behalf of the Other) in 2009 which received the Jo Peters Poetry Prize in 2010 and the J.C. Bloem-poëzieprijs in 2011. Hagar, of uncertain origin; ar, هَاجَر, Hājar; grc, Ἁγάρ, Hagár; la, Agar is a biblical woman. According to the Book of Genesis, she was an Egyptian slave, a handmaiden of Sarah (then known as ''Sarai''), whom Sarah gave to her own husband Abram (later renamed Abraham) as a wife to bear him a child. Abraham's firstborn son, through Hagar, Ishmael, became the progenitor of the Ishmaelites, generally taken to be the Arabs.
