JoAnn Hackos
JoAnn T. Hackos is a lecturer, consultant, and author of a number of books about technical communication. Now retired, Dr. Hackos is the founder of the Center for Information-Development Management (CIDM) and the president emeritus of Comtech Services in Denver, Colorado. She is also a fellow and past president of the Society for Technical Communication. She is a member of the IEEE Standards Association and active in the ISO SC7 Working Groups that is developing standards for information developers. She is the co-author of the standards on content management and information-development management. Hackos is considered an expert in the fields of content management and information design, with some of her work in the fields being described as "groundbreaking." Jo-Ann Stores, LLC, more commonly known as Jo-Ann (stylized as JOANN), is an American specialty retailer of crafts and fabrics based in Hudson, Ohio. Alfred Norton Goldsmith
Alfred Norton Goldsmith (September 15, 1888 – July 2, 1974) was a noted American electrical engineer. Goldsmith was born in New York City, received his B.S. in 1907 from the College of the City of New York and in 1911 his Ph.D. from Columbia University where he studied under Michael I. Pupin. He taught at City College from 1906 to 1923. In 1912 Goldsmith co-founded the Institute of Radio Engineers (IRE) and was the first editor of its proceedings, serving for 42 years. In 1914 he consulted as a radio engineer for the Atlantic Communication Company, and for the General Electric Company from 1915 to 1917.
