Jo-Ann Miller
Jo-Ann Roslyn Miller (born 22 August 1958) is an Australian politician. She was a Labor Party member of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland between February 2000 and February 2020, representing the electorate of Bundamba. Miller entered parliament in a 2000 by-election upon the resignation of the former member for Bundamba, Bob Gibbs. Bundamba was considered a safe seat for the Labor Party, and Miller won all the elections in the seat from 2001 to 2017. Following Labor's defeat in the 2012 election, Miller was elevated to the frontbench. On 16 February 2015 she was sworn in as Minister for Police, Fire and Emergency Services and Minister for Corrective Services in the Palaszczuk Ministry. On 4 December 2015, Miller resigned from cabinet following a Queensland Parliamentary Ethics Committee Report stating that although she had not been guilty of contempt of Parliament, she had engaged in a "pattern of reckless conduct." Annastacia Palaszczuk
Annastacia Palaszczuk ( , Polish: Annastacia Pałaszczuk, ; born 25 July 1969) is an Australian politician who has been the 39th premier of Queensland since 2015 and the leader of the Queensland branch of the Australian Labor Party (ALP) since 2012. She was first elected to the Legislative Assembly of Queensland for the district of Inala at the 2006 election. Palaszczuk was a political adviser and lawyer before her election to the Legislative Assembly, succeeding her father Henry Palaszczuk in the seat of Inala. She held several roles in the Bligh Government from 2009 to 2012, when Queensland Labor suffered a historic defeat. 2000 Bundamba State By-election
A by-election was held in the Legislative Assembly of Queensland seat of Bundamba on 5 February 2000. It was triggered by the resignation of sitting Labor member Bob Gibbs. It was held concurrently with the Woodridge state by-election. The seat was retained by Labor Party with the election of candidate Jo-Ann Miller. Background Bob Gibbs first entered parliament at the 1977 state election when he was elected as the Labor member for the seat of Wolston. Wolston was abolished at the 1992 state election, partly replaced by the new seat of Bundamba which Gibbs won and held thereafter. Robert Brian Gibbs (born June 14, 1954) is an American farmer and politician who served as the U.S. representative for from 2011 to 2023. He is a member of the Republican Party. On April 6, 2022, Gibbs announced he was not seeking reelection. Early life, education, and agricultural career Gibbs was born on June 14, 1954, in Peru, Indiana. His family moved to Cleveland in the 1960s, and Gibbs graduated from Bay Village Senior High School. In 1974, he graduated from the Ohio State University Agricultural Technical Institute and moved to Lakeville, Ohio, where he co-founded Hidden Hollow Farms, Ltd. Formerly a producer of swine, Hidden Hollow Farms now produces corn and soybeans. Gibbs served as president of the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation, Ohio's largest agriculture organization. The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) is the national broadcaster of Australia.
