Jo-Ann Stores, LLC, more commonly known as Jo-Ann (stylized as JOANN), is an American specialty retailer of crafts and fabrics based in Hudson, Ohio. It operates the retail chains ''JOANN Fabrics and Crafts'' and ''Jo-Ann Etc''. The headquarters of the company is located in the former General Motors Terex plant. History In 1943, German immigrants Hilda and Berthold Reich, Sigmund and Mathilda Rohrbach, and Justin and Alma Zimmerman opened the Fabric Shop in Cleveland, Ohio. After further expansion, in 1963, the name was changed to ''Jo-Ann Fabrics''. The store's name was created by combining the names of the daughters from both families: Joan and Jacqueline Ann. In 1969, Jo-Ann Fabrics became a publicly held corporation traded on the American Stock Exchange under the name of ''Fabri-Centers of America, Inc.'' The Playmates
The Playmates were an American late 1950s vocal group led by the pianist Chic Hetti (born Carl Cicchetti, 26 February 1930), drummer Donny Conn (born Donald Claps, 29 March 1930 – September 2, 2015), and Morey Carr (31 July 1932 – 1987), all from Waterbury, Connecticut, United States. Career The Playmates—Donald Claps (a.k.a. Donny Conn), drummer and lyricist; Carl Cicchetti (a.k.a. Chic Hetti), pianist music composer; and Morey Cohen (a.k.a. Morey Carr), lead vocalist—were an instrumental and vocal trio, from Waterbury, Connecticut, and, in the early 1950s, at the University of Connecticut. After graduation in 1952, they began touring small lounges and night clubs in the United States and Canada, originally as "the Nitwits", later as the Playmates. is a seventeenth-century Japanese teahouse (''chashitsu'') located in Inuyama, Aichi Prefecture. ''Jo-an'' is said to be one of the three finest teahouses in Japan and has been in its current location in Inuyama since 1972. ''Jo-an'' was designated a National Treasure in 1951. History ''Jo-an'' was originally built around 1618 in Kennin-ji, Kyoto, for Oda Urakusai, the younger brother of ''daimyō'' Oda Nobunaga and a disciple of tea ceremony master Sen no Rikyū. ''Jo-an'' has been relocated a number of times, but since 1972 has formed part of the Urakuen gardens in Inuyama, Aichi Prefecture, part of the historic Owari Province which the Oda clan ruled starting in the 15th century.
