Jio Mier
Jiovanni James Mier (born August 26, 1990) is an American former professional baseball shortstop. Career Houston Astros Mier was drafted by the Houston Astros with the 21st overall pick of the 2009 Major League Baseball draft out of Bonita High School in La Verne, California, and signed for a $1.358 million bonus. He was assigned to the Rookie-Advanced Greeneville Astros for the 2009 season, and posted a .276 batting average with 7 home runs and 32 runs batted in (RBI). In 2010, Mier played with the Single-A Lexington Legends, and hit .235 with 2 home runs and 53 RBI over 131 games. Mier began the 2011 season with Lexington, and was later promoted to the High-A Lancaster JetHawks. He appeared in 114 total games that season, and hit .239 with 7 home runs and 52 RBI. Shortstop
Shortstop, abbreviated SS, is the baseball or softball fielding position between second and third base, which is considered to be among the most demanding defensive positions. Historically the position was assigned to defensive specialists who were typically poor at batting and were often placed at the bottom of the batting order. Today, shortstops are often able to hit well and many are placed at the top of the lineup. In the numbering system used by scorers to record defensive plays, the shortstop is assigned the number 6. More hit balls go to the shortstop than to any other position, as there are more right-handed hitters in baseball than left-handed hitters, and most hitters have a tendency to pull the ball slightly. The Corpus Christi Hooks are a Minor League Baseball team of the Texas League and the Double-A affiliate of the Houston Astros. They are located in Corpus Christi, Texas, and are named for the city's association with fishing. The team is owned by the Houston Astros. The Mexican League (, ) is a professional baseball league based in Mexico and the oldest running professional league in the country. The league has 18 teams organized in two divisions, North and South. Teams play 114 games each season. The Toros de Tijuana (or Tijuana Bulls) are a Mexican Baseball team based in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. They are members of the Mexican Baseball League and play their home games at Estadio Chevron. Team history Original Attempt The franchise was originally the Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos before moving to Tijuana to become the Toros de Tijuana in 2004.
