Jinning, Kinmen
Jinning Township () is a rural township in Kinmen, Republic of China. It is in the Taiwan Strait, on the coast of mainland China. It has a population of 27,307 and an area of . History In 1913, Sen-you Li () founded the Guning Advanced Elementary School (). In October 1949, today's Jinning Township was the site of the Battle of Kuningtou. Jinning Township was established in 1953. In 1999, the Kinmen County Government established a horseshoe crab conservation area of about 800 hectares in the tidal flat northwest of Guningtou (Ku-ning-t'ou, ). Kinmen Daily News
''Kinmen Daily News'' (KMDN; ) is a newspaper owned by Kinmen County Government in Kinmen County (Quemoy), Fujian Province, Republic of China (Taiwan). History The predecessor of the Kinmen Daily News was ''Chunghwa Cheng Chi Pao'' (, Zhōnghuá-zhèngqìbào) from Nancheng, Jiangxi, which retreated to Quemoy following the Chinese civil war. ''Kinmen Daily News'' started publishing on October 31, 1965. From November 7, 1992 onwards, the operation of two newspapers were split. ''Chunghwa Cheng Chi Pao'' was changed into a weekly paper, and is distributed to the military on Quemoy. ''Kinmen Daily News'' was transferred to the Kinmen County Government, and continued to be published daily. Kinmen Bridge
The Kinmen Bridge () is a cross-sea bridge in Kinmen, Fujian, Republic of China (Taiwan). It connects Greater Kinmen Island and Lieyu Island. History On 28 February 2010, this project of constructing the bridge was approved by Council for Economic Planning and Development of the Republic of China. On 9 January 2011, President Ma Ying-jeou traveled to Kinmen to host the groundbreaking ceremony. The bridge construction commenced in 2013. However, on 29 June 2016, the construction work was suspended when the Government of the Republic of China terminated the contract with Kuo Teng Construction Co. (the construction company which had been building the bridge), due to the poor construction management that had caused the project to be seriously behind schedule. During August 2016, the Taiwan Area National Expressway Engineering Bureau invited new contractor companies to complete the remaining project. Houhu Seashore Park
The Houhu Seashore Park () is a park in Jinning Township, Kinmen County, Taiwan. History Due to the long presence of the Republic of China Armed Forces along the shoreline, the beach remains relatively clean all these times. Recently, more facilities have been constructed within the area. Activities The beach is the venue for the once-in-12-years Houhu Sea Chau ancient ritual for the deceased fishermen. Guningtou Battle Museum
The Guningtou Battle Museum () is located in the Kuningtou area of the Kinmen National Park, Jinning Township, Kinmen County, Taiwan. History The museum was built in 1984 by local military and civilian population to commemorate the Battle of Guningtou (started in 1949 and continued throughout the 1950s) between National Revolutionary Army and People's Liberation Army. Exhibition On the outside of museum, three bronze statues of soldiers ready for battle are displayed. On both sides are tanks used during the battle. Inside of the museum are the exhibition of military equipment, military weapons, battle-related documents, photos and paintings. Chiang Ching-kuo Memorial Hall
The Chiang Ching-kuo Memorial Hall () is a memorial hall dedicated to former President of the Republic of China Chiang Ching-kuo located in Jinning Township, Kinmen County, Taiwan. History The memorial hall was built in 1989. On 6 July 2008, the memorial hall was reopened in a ceremony attended by legislator Chen Fu-hai, Fujian Province Governor Hsueh Hsiang-chuan, Magistrate Lee Chu-feng, local officials, elected representatives and Chiang Ching-kuo's friends. The memorial hall was closed for renovation from 20 June until 30 November 2019 and was reopened at the end of 2019.
