Jimmy Wootton
James Wootton (9 March 1860 – 21 February 1941) was an English first-class cricketer. Wootton was a left-handed batsman who bowled left-arm medium pace. Wootton made his first-class debut for Kent in 1880 against Sussex. Wootton represented Kent in 115 first-class matches in from 1880 to 1890, with his final match for the county coming against the Marylebone Cricket Club. In his 115 matches for the county he scored 1,021 runs at a batting average of 7.34 and a high score of 40. With the ball he took 597 wickets at a bowling average of 17.14, with 49 five wicket hauls, 15 ten wicket hauls in a match and best figures of 8/27 against Lancashire in 1886. Wootton passed the 100 wickets mark in 1884, 1886 and 1887. Out of those the 1886 season was his best as he took 143 wickets at an average of 15.95, with 14 five wicket hauls, 10 five wicket hauls in a match and best figures of 8/27. Sutton-at-Hone
Sutton-at-Hone is a village in the civil parish of Sutton-at-Hone and Hawley in the Borough of Dartford in Kent, England. It is located 3.5 miles south of Dartford & 3.6 miles north east of Swanley. History The place-name 'Sutton-at-Hone' is first attested in the Domesday Book of 1086, where it appears as ''Sudtone''. The place is called ''Suttone atte hone'' in a charter of 1281 at one time in the British Museum. The name means 'southern town or settlement near a stone', probably a boundary stone, from the Old English ''hān'' meaning 'stone'. Sutton-at-Hone has a long history. Priory Park is a public park in Chichester, West Sussex, England, operated by Chichester District Council. It is situated in the north-east quadrant of Chichester City centre. 1895 County Championship
The 1895 County Championship was the sixth officially organised running of the County Championship, and ran from 6 May to 2 September 1895. Surrey claimed their fifth title, which was decided by the percentage of completed matches by each side. The competition saw the first participation in the competition by Derbyshire, Essex, Hampshire, Leicestershire and Warwickshire. Table * One point was awarded for a win, and one point was taken away for each loss. Final placings were decided by dividing the number of points earned by the number of completed matches (i.e. those that ended in win or loss).
