Jimmy Trotter
James William Trotter (25 November 1899 – 17 April 1984) was an English professional footballer who played as a centre-forward in the Football League for Bury, The Wednesday, Torquay United and Watford. He later became a manager. Playing career Born in Easington, County Durham, Trotter served in the Royal Garrison Artillery during the First World War. His professional career began with Bury from where he joined The Wednesday in 1921. He scored 109 goals in 154 League matches, including five in one game against Portsmouth in December 1924. During his tenure at The Wednesday he was the leading goalscorer of the Second Division in the season 1925–26 and in the First Division in the season 1926–27. During both seasons he scored 37 goals in the league. Trotter joined Torquay United in 1930 and scored 26 goals in his first season at Plainmoor before losing his place due to a knee injury. Easington, also known as Easington Village, is a village and civil parish in eastern County Durham, England. It is located at the junction of the A182 and B1283, leading north-west to Hetton-le-Hole and south east to Horden. It is near the A19, which travels north to Seaham and Sunderland as well as south to Peterlee and Stockton-on-Tees. The population of Easington Village was 2,164 in 2001, increasing slightly to 2,171 at the 2011 Census. Plainmoor is an association football stadium located in the Plainmoor suburb of Torquay, Devon, England. Since 1921, the stadium has been the home of Torquay United Football Club, who currently compete in the National League, the fifth tier of English football. Johnny Summers (footballer)
Johnny Summers (10 September 1927 – 2 June 1962) was a football striker who scored 104 goals for Charlton Athletic. Summers engineered one of the most remarkable comebacks in football history; Charlton were 5-1 down against Huddersfield with half an hour to go with only 10 men; they won 7-6 in the Second Division at The Valley, 21 December 1957. Johnny scored five goals, set up two and scored a six-minute hat-trick. Summers later revealed that he changed his boots at half-time after his old pair had started falling apart. Derek Gilbert Ufton (31 May 1928 – 27 March 2021) was an English professional cricketer and footballer, and later a football manager. Playing professionally for Kent County Cricket Club as a wicket-keeper and Charlton Athletic Football Club, Ufton won a single international cap for the England national football team in 1953. He went on to manage Plymouth Argyle. The Valley is a 27,111 capacity sports stadium in Charlton, London, England and has been the home of Charlton Athletic F.C., Charlton Athletic Football Club since the 1920s, with a period of exile between 1985 and 1992.
