James Sullivan (drummer)
James Owen Sullivan (February 9, 1981 – December 28, 2009), also known by his stage name the Rev (shortened version of ''the Reverend Tholomew Plague''), was an American musician, best known as a member of the heavy metal band Avenged Sevenfold, where he played drums, piano and provided backing and co-lead vocals. He was also the lead vocalist/pianist in the avant-garde metal band Pinkly Smooth and drummed for the ska punk band Suburban Legends from 1998 to 1999. Career Sullivan was born on February 9, 1981, of Irish descent and raised Roman Catholic. He received his first pair of drumsticks at the age of five and his own drum set at the age of twelve. In high school, he started playing in bands. Before leaving to join Avenged Sevenfold as one of the band's founding members, Sullivan was the drummer for the third wave ska band Suburban Legends. Jim Sullivan (boxer)
Jim Sullivan (7 June 1886 – 22 July 1949) was a British boxer who was British middleweight champion between 1910 and 1912. He went on to challenge for the European title. Career From Bermondsey, Jim Sullivan began his professional career in 1908. After early fights which included two draws and two wins against Curly Watson, Sullivan fought Tom Thomas for the British middleweight title in November 1910, winning a 20-round points decision. In June 1911 he fought Billy Papke for the British version of the World middleweight title, losing after being knocked down at the end of the ninth round and failing to come out of his corner for the tenth. Sullivan was denied a rematch after Papke sailed back to America a month later. Sullivan travelled to America hoping to fight but the trip was marred by illness and he returned home. James Stephen Sullivan
James Stephen Sullivan (July 23, 1929 – June 12, 2006) was an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as bishop of the Diocese of Fargo in North Dakota from 1985 to 2002. He previously served as an auxiliary bishop of the Diocese of Lansing in Michigan from 1972 to 1985. In 2021, the Diocese of Lansing stated that Sullivan had credible accusations of sexually abusing minors during the 1960's. Biography Early life Sullivan was born on July 23, 1929 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, to Stephen and Dorothy (née Bernier) Sullivan. After attending St. Augustine Cathedral School in Kalamazoo, he attended high school and two years of college at St. Joseph Seminary in Grand Rapids. Peter Van Hoesen (January 24, 1828 – May 10, 1918), better known by his ''nom de guerre'' James Sullivan, was an American Civil War veteran. Having deserted, he later enlisted on behalf of another individual and performed an act of valor for which he was awarded the Medal of Honor. However, the circumstances of his enrollment denied him his right to a service pension and the recognition of the award. Biography Peter Van Hoesen was born on January 24, 1828, and enlisted with the Army early in the conflict and deserted from Company B of the 18th New York Volunteer Infantry sometime prior to the Battle of Crampton's Gap on September 14, 1862. Van Hoesen was arrested in New Scotland, New York, for desertion on July 3, 1863, and was sent to Albany Barracks. His familiarity with the area helped him to escape and journey to New York City, where he met the real James Sullivan while in hiding. He was a renowned curler, being skip of the Jim Sullivan Rink which captured the 1987 Canadian Junior Curling Championships for New Brunswick, and the 1988 World Junior Curling Championships.
