Jimmy Peters, Jr.
James Stephen Peters Jr. (born June 20, 1944) is a Canadian retired ice hockey Winger (ice hockey), left wing who played 309 games in the National Hockey League with the Detroit Red Wings and Los Angeles Kings between 1964 and 1974. After his playing career he worked as a coach (sports), coach in the university level for several years. His father, Jimmy Peters Sr., also played in the NHL. Biography Born in Montreal, Quebec, Peters started his NHL career with the Detroit Red Wings in the 1964–65 NHL season, 1964–65 season. He would also play for the Los Angeles Kings between 1968 and 1975, during which time he also played for several American Hockey League, Central Hockey League (1963–1984), Central Hockey League, and Western Hockey League (minor pro), Western Hockey League teams. He would retire after the playing the 1975–76 season in the CHL with the Fort Worth Texans. Centre (ice Hockey)
The centre (or center in the United States) in ice hockey is a forward position of a player whose primary zone of play is the middle of the ice, away from the sideboards. Centres have more flexibility in their positioning and therefore often end up covering more ice surface than any other player. Centres are ideally strong, fast skaters who are able to back-check quickly from deep in the opposing zone. Generally, centres are expected to be gifted passers more so than goal scorers, although there are exceptions - typically larger centres who position themselves directly in front of the net in order to score off rebounds. They are also expected to have exceptional "ice vision", intelligence, and creativity.
