Jimmy Murray (footballer, Born 1933)
James Murray (4 February 1933 – 10 July 2015) was a Scottish footballer. He played as an inside right for Heart of Midlothian and Scotland in the 1950s and early 1960s. Murray made his first Scotland appearance in a 4–0 defeat to England at Hampden on 19 April 1958. He scored Scotland's first-ever goal in a World Cup finals match, in a 1–1 draw against Yugoslavia in 1958. He is also to this day the only Heart of Midlothian player to score a goal in the World Cup finals. He won a total of five caps for Scotland. 1958 FIFA World Cup
The 1958 FIFA World Cup was the sixth FIFA World Cup, a quadrennial football tournament for men's senior national teams, and was played in Sweden from 8 to 29 June 1958. It was the first FIFA World Cup to be played in a Nordic country. Brazil beat Sweden 5–2 in the final in the Stockholm suburb of Solna to claim their first title. The tournament also marked the arrival of a then 17-year-old Pelé on the world stage. This was the first appearance of Wales at the FIFA World Cup and they would not qualify for another until 64 years later. There were also debut appearances for Northern Ireland and the Soviet Union. The Scotland national football team is the joint-oldest international football team, having played in the first official international match, a goalless draw on 30 November 1872 against England. Since then, the team has established a long-standing rivalry with England, particularly in the annual British Home Championship, which Scotland won 24 times outright and shared a further 17 times. Newtongrange () is a former mining village in Midlothian, Scotland. Known in local dialect as ''Nitten'', or ''Nitten by the Bing'' (), it became Scotland's largest mining village in the 1890s, with the sinking of the Lady Victoria Colliery and a shaft over 1600 feet deep.
