Early life and career He was born in Goulburn to baker James Moloney and Mary Ann Pickels. He was educated locally and became a messenger boy, subsequently moving to Sydney to become a bootmaker. On 19 April 1924 he married Emily Dent, with whom he had four children. He had joined the Labor Party and the Australian Boot Trade Employees' Federation in 1915; he was New South Wales secretary of the union from 1932 to 1943, federal president from 1936 to 1940 and federal secretary from 1940 to 1943. James Maloney (unionist)
James Maloney (September 11, 1870 – January 28, 1960) was an American labor union leader. Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Maloney began working in a glass bottle factory at the age of eight. He later completed an apprenticeship as a glass bottle blower, and joined the Glass Bottle Blowers' Association (GBBA) in 1890. He held various posts in his local union, and then in 1909 was elected to the international union's executive board. Maloney won election as a vice-president of the GBBA in 1917, and then in 1925 as president of the union. When he took over as leader of the union, it was struggling to continue after heavy job losses due to alcohol prohibition. He worked with leaders of the brewery and distillery unions to campaign for the repeal of prohibition, and once this took place, the GBBA's membership grew from 2,000 to 34,000. James Anthony Maloney (March 30, 1905 – October 1, 1961) was a Canadian politician who was a Member of Provincial Parliament in Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1956 to 1961. He represented the riding of Renfrew South for the Ontario Progressive Conservative Party. Born in Eganville, Ontario, he was the son of Martin James Maloney, who served in the House of Commons of Canada. His maternal grandfather, James Bonfield, was also a politician, having served as a Liberal member of the Ontario Legislature. He was trained as a lawyer at Osgoode Hall. James Mahony
James Mahony or Mahoney (1810–1879) was a leading nineteenth century Irish artist and engraver. His father was a joiner in Cork, Ireland, and little is known of his early life. He seems to have studied painting and drawing in Rome, travelling in Italy and France until aged 32 when he returned to Cork. He quickly became known for his watercolour paintings, with townscapes from Rome, Venice, Paris, and Rouen. His work included "highly romantic" engravings of scenes from Irish life, such as of the Great Irish Famine and of St Patrick's Day, the national day of Ireland. His famine sketches, drawn on the spot in Skibbereen and Clonakilty in West Cork, commissioned by and published in the ''Illustrated London News'', roused public opinion to persuade the British government to take action to alleviate the famine.
