Thomas James Jones (born 1876) was an English association football, footballer who played in the Football League for Stoke City F.C., Stoke. Career Jones was born in Newcastle-Under-Lyme and played for local amateur clubs Newcastle Swifts and Congleton Hornets before joining Stoke City F.C., Stoke in November 1898. He took the place at inside-forward and it took him until the final three matches of the 1899–1900 Stoke F.C. season, 1899–1900 season before he found the back of the net scoring five goals. He was moved to outside left for the 1900–01 Stoke F.C. season, 1900–01 season but lost his place in January 1901 to Len Benbow and decided to leave for Crewe Alexandra F.C., Crewe Alexandra. James Henry Jones (December 30, 1918, Memphis, Tennessee – April 29, 1982, Burbank, California) was an American jazz pianist and arranger. Biography As a child, Jones learned guitar and piano. He worked in Chicago orchestras from 1936 and played in a trio with Stuff Smith from 1943 to 1945. Following this, he played with Don Byas, Dizzy Gillespie (1945), J.C. Heard (1945–47), Buck Clayton (1946) and Etta Jones. He accompanied Sarah Vaughan from 1947 to 1952, and then again from 1954 to 1958 after a long illness. In 1954, he played on an album with Clifford Brown and accompanied him on his European tour. Around this time, he also played with Helen Merrill and Gil Evans. In 1959, he accompanied Anita O'Day in her appearance at the Newport Jazz Festival and worked with Dakota Staton, Pat Suzuki, and Morgana King. Jimmy Jones (singer)
James Jones (June 2, 1930 – August 2, 2012) was an American singer-songwriter who moved to New York City while a teenager. According to Allmusic journalist Steve Huey, "best known for his 1960 R&B smash, ' Handy Man', Jones sang in a smooth yet soulful falsetto modeled on the likes of Clyde McPhatter and Sam Cooke." Career Jones was born in Birmingham, Alabama. His first job in the entertainment industry was as a tap dancer. He joined a doo-wop group named the Berliners in 1954. They later changed their name to Sparks of Rhythm. In 1955 Jones co-wrote " Handy Man", which was recorded by the Sparks of Rhythm in 1956 (after Jones left the group). After recording with other groups, Jones went solo and, in 1959, teamed up with Otis Blackwell who reworked "Handy Man" which Jones recorded on the MGM subsidiary Cub Records. Life Jones was born as Albert Simmonds, on 9 February 1938 in Southampton, England. He grew up in Rainham, Essex, attending a Catholic school, and initially wanting to train as a priest. Melvin Nelson (1936/1937 – October 15, 2017) was an American professional wrestler. He competed in the United States under the ring names Jimmy Jones and Burrhead Jones. As an African American wrestler, he was not permitted to wrestle against caucasians in some territories, thus he also worked as a referee. Clarence Medlycott "Jimmy" Jones (10 July 1912 – 22 March 1986) was a British tennis player and author. In major tournaments his best result came at the 1936 Wimbledon Championships where he reached the fourth round. Jones was a successful player winning events on multiple surfaces including clay, cement, grass and wood (indoors). Between 1931 and 1950 he contested 36 career finals and won 22 titles. James Harrison Jones (born January 2, 1953) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. He played for the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League between 1977 and 1979. He also played for the Vancouver Blazers of the World Hockey Association between 1973 and 1975.
