Jimmy Dawson (basketball, Born 1945)
James C. Dawson (born April 18, 1945 in Oak Park, Illinois) is an American former professional basketball point guard who played one season in the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a member of the Indiana Pacers during the 1967–68 season. He attended University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign where he was drafted by the Chicago Bulls during the 16 round of the 1967 NBA draft, but he did not play for them. High school A native of Oak Park, Illinois, Dawson attended York Community High School from 1959–60 to 1962–63 and led the Dukes to the ''"Elite 8"'' of the Illinois High School Association state basketball tournament, losing to Jim Burns and the McLeansboro Foxes in the IHSA quarterfinals of the 1962 tournament. Oak Park, Illinois
Oak Park is a village in Cook County, Illinois, adjacent to Chicago. It is the 29th-most populous municipality in Illinois with a population of 54,583 as of the 2020 U.S. Census estimate. Oak Park was first settled in 1835 and later incorporated in 1902, when it separated from Cicero, Illinois, Cicero. Architect Frank Lloyd Wright and his wife settled in Oak Park in 1889, and his work heavily influenced local architecture and design, including the Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio. The West Suburban Conference is an athletic conference in DuPage County and Cook County in the state of Illinois. The conference was founded in 1924. The Providence Friars men's basketball team represents Providence College in NCAA Division I competition. The Princeton Tigers men's basketball team is the intercollegiate men's basketball program representing Princeton University. The 1965–66 Illinois Fighting Illini men's basketball team represented the University of Illinois. Regular season Harry Combes entered his 19th season as the head coach of the Fighting Illini. The program was heading in a positive direction with six up-and-coming sophomores joining a varsity team that already included five juniors and five seniors. This balance was demonstrated within the starting lineup which included a rotation of two sophomores, two juniors and two seniors. The starters included, Don Freeman and Rich Jones as forwards, Preston Pearson and Bob Brown as guards, and Ron Dunlap at center. It was during this season that Freeman would mark his place in Illini history by setting a record for most points in a season (668), while averaging 27.8 points per game. The 1964–65 Michigan Wolverines men's basketball team represented the University of Michigan in intercollegiate college basketball during the 1964–65 season. Skip Thoren
Duane W. "Skip" Thoren (born April 5, 1943) is an American former professional basketball player. At a height of 6 ft 10 in (2.08 m) tall, he played at the center position. High school A native of Rockford, Illinois, Thoren attended Rockford East High School from 1957–58 to 1960–61 and led the E-Rabs to the ''"Elite 8"'' of the Illinois High School Association state basketball tournament, losing to the eventual state champion Collinsville High School in the quarterfinals of the 1961 tournament. Thoren led the E-Rabs to consecutive regional championships and 20 win seasons. As a junior his team finished the season with an overall record of 21 wins and only 5 losses and a Big 8 Conference record of 7 wins and 3 losses, finishing in second place. Talbot "Tal" Brody (Hebrew: טל ברודי; born August 30, 1943), nicknamed Mr. Basketball, is an American-Israeli former professional basketball player and current goodwill ambassador of Israel. Brody was drafted #12 in the National Basketball Association (NBA) draft, but chose to pass up an NBA career, to instead play basketball in Israel. He played on national basketball teams of both the United States and Israel, and served in the armies of both countries. A New Jersey All-star basketball player in high school, Brody led his team to an undefeated state championship.
