Jim Young
James Norman Young (born June 6, 1943) is a former professional American football and Canadian football player. Young played running back and wide receiver for the NFL's Minnesota Vikings for two seasons (1965–66), and the CFL's BC Lions for thirteen seasons (1967–79). Young is a member of Canada's Sports Hall of Fame, the Canadian Football Hall of Fame, the BC Sports Hall of Fame, and the Queen's University Football Hall of Fame. Young's #30 jersey is one of ten numbers retired by the BC Lions. In 2003, Young was voted a member of the BC Lions All-Time Dream Team as part of the club’s 50th anniversary celebration. In 2006, Young was voted to the Honour Roll of the CFL's top 50 players of the league's modern era by Canadian sports network TSN. James Whitney Young
James Whitney Young (born January 24, 1941) is an American astronomer who worked in the field of asteroid research. After nearly 47 years with the Jet Propulsion Laboratory at their Table Mountain Facility, Young retired July 16, 2009. He was a very prolific minor planet-observer of both physical properties and astrometric positions, and had discovered more than 250 asteroids since 2002, most of them from the main-belt, as well as several near-Earth objects, Mars-crossers and Jupiter trojans. He also discovered SN 2004eg, an extra-galactic supernova. The Florian asteroid 2874 Jim Young was named in his honor. Biography James W. Jim Young (dual Player)
James Edward Young (16 October 1915 – 23 August 1992) was an Irish hurler and Gaelic footballer who played in various positions for the Cork senior teams. Young made his first appearance for the senior hurling team during the 1938 championship and was a regular member of the starting fifteen until his retirement after the 1949 championship. During that time he won five All-Ireland medals, six Munster medals and three National Hurling League medals. Young was an All-Ireland runner-up on two occasions. At club level Young was an eight-time county hurling championship medalist with Glen Rovers. He also played football at club level with Dohenys. Young's father, Jack, and his brother Éamonn, were All-Ireland medalists in football with Cork. Jim Young (St Finbarr's Hurler)
Jim Young was an Irish sportsperson. He played hurling with his local club St Finbarr's and was a member at senior level of the Cork county team from 1893 until 1894. Playing career Club Young played his club hurling with the St Finbarr's club and had much success throughout the first decade of club activity in Cork. He won a county senior championship title with 'the Barr's' in 1899. Inter-county Young first came to prominence on the inter-county scene with Cork as part of the Blackrock selection in 1893. He missed Cork's Munster final triumph; however, he was included on the team for the subsequent All-Ireland final meeting with Kilkenny. Cork won the game on probably the most unsuitable playing field in hurling history. Jim Young (born April 21, 1935) is a former American football player and coach. He served as the head coach at the University of Arizona (1973–1976), Purdue University (1977–1981), and the United States Military Academy (1983–1990), compiling a career college football record of 120–71–2. Young was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame as a coach in 1999. In addition to achieving a bowl game record of 5-1 (.833); Young was the interim coach for the Michigan Wolverines during the 1970 Rose Bowl, as Bo Schembechler was hospitalized following a mild heart attack. James Harold Young (7 July 1925 – 18 June 2020) was a New Zealand sailor, boat designer and builder. Early life and family Born in Wellington on 7 July 1925, Young was the son of Cyril Ernest Young and Daisy Winifred Young (née Babington) of Lower Hutt. He moved to Auckland when he was 10 years old, and began a boatbuilding apprenticeship in 1940, working on general boat maintenance and the construction of wooden naval vessels until 1945. He served in Japan as part of J-Force in 1946. Boat design and building After returning from Japan, Young began designing and building yachts, first at a shed in Little Shoal Bay, Birkenhead, and then in Takapuna. In 1949, he won the Sanders Cup in a 14-foot X class yacht that he designed, built and skippered himself.
