Jim Warren (artist)
Jim Warren (born November 24, 1949, in Long Beach, California) is an American artist best known for book cover illustrations and surrealistic fantasy art. He has worked in surrealistic fantasy since about 1969. He has collaborated on paintings with marine life artist Wyland, and artist Michael Godard. Warren currently lives in Clearwater, Florida. A self-taught artist, Warren uses traditional oil paint and brushes on stretched canvas. Early life and career Warren was born in Long Beach to Don and Betty Warren, and began painting as a child. His choice of an artistic career path was made in high school. Jim Warren (July 20, 1936 – November 24, 2021) was an American mathematics and computing educator, computer professional, entrepreneur, editor, publisher and continuing sometime activist. Early career From 1957 to 1967, Warren was a mathematics teacher at secondary-school level, and professor at college and university levels, with his last full-time academic position being Chair of the Mathematics Department at the Notre Dame de Namur University, College of Notre Dame, Belmont, a small liberal arts college in Belmont, California. He later taught computer courses at Stanford University, San Jose State University and San Francisco State University. He had his first full-time teaching contract, for an annual salary of , when he was 20 years old and had completed only three years of college. Jim Warren is an American Top Fuel Dragster driver. He won two National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) and two American Hot Rod Association (AHRA) national events. Top Fuel career Warren's first Top Fuel event was at Auto Club Raceway in Pomona, California, at the NHRA Winternats in February 1964.
