Jim Turner (March 19, 1945 – March 28, 1999) was an American editor and publisher. Turner was editor for Arkham House after the death of August Derleth. After leaving Arkham House, he founded Golden Gryphon Press. Biography James Allen Turner was born on March 19, 1945, in St. Louis, Missouri. He graduated from Collinsville High School in 1963. He received a B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis and began graduate school but became the editor at Arkham House in 1973 before he received his degree. As well as overseeing editorial operations at Arkham House generally, Turner himself edited an anthology of Lovecraftian horror for them - ''Cthulhu 2000: A Lovecraftian Anthology'' (1995; reprinted by Del Rey Books). In 1996 he left Arkham House over creative differences with Arkham co-owner April Derleth. Jim Turner (born October 28, 1952) is an American actor and stand-up comedian. He is best known for his supporting roles as Kirby Carlisle in '' Arli$$'' (1996–2002) and as Larry in ''Bewitched'' (2005). Life and career Turner was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado. His father, George Turner, was in the Air Force and moved his family around often during Jim's youth to several locations, including Quebec, Arizona, and Iowa. Turner married Lynn Freer in 1992 and they have a son, Otto. He is a longtime member of the comedy troupe Duck's Breath Mystery Theatre. James Louis Turner (born September 6, 1946) is an American singer-songwriter, who has national credits from Broadway, television, and radio. Well-known from ''The Lawrence Welk Show'' as the country/pop bass baritone from 1979 until its eponymous host retired in 1982, he was earlier cast on Broadway for the original '' Jesus Christ Superstar'', while he was in New York City on a Nashville folk rock tour. James Bayard Turner (born March 28, 1941) is a former American football player. A quarterback and placekicker, he played college football for Utah State University and was signed as a free agent in 1964 by the American Football League's New York Jets head coach Weeb Ewbank. "Tank" kicked a then record 145 points in the 1968 regular season, with a professional football record 34 field goals. Turner kicked for nine points in the AFL Championship game win over the Oakland Raiders, and ten points in the Jets's 16-7 defeat of the Baltimore Colts in the Third World Championship of Professional Football, Super Bowl III. 1998 NFL Draft
The 1998 NFL draft was the procedure by which National Football League teams selected amateur college football players. It is officially known as the NFL Annual Player Selection Meeting. The draft was held April 18–19, 1998, at the Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The league also held a supplemental draft after the regular draft and before the regular season. Before the draft, there was much debate in the media on if the Indianapolis Colts would select Peyton Manning or Ryan Leaf with the first overall pick. Both were considered excellent prospects and future franchise quarterbacks: Leaf was considered to have more upside and a stronger throwing arm, whereas Manning was considered a polished prospect who was NFL ready and more mature. Jim Turner (baseball)
James Riley Turner (August 6, 1903 – November 29, 1998) was a pitcher and coach in Major League Baseball. As a member of the Cincinnati Reds and New York Yankees, he was a member of nine World Series Championship teams between 1940 and 1959, two as a player and seven as a coach. Most notably, he was pitching coach for the Yankees under Casey Stengel from 1949 to 1959, during which time they won seven titles. Apart from his baseball career, Turner was a lifelong resident of Nashville, Tennessee. Career From 1937 through 1945, he played for the Boston Bees (1937–39), Cincinnati Reds (1940–42) and New York Yankees (1942–45). Turner's Major League career got off to a late start, as he did not reach the big leagues until he was 33 years old, after 14 seasons of minor league ball. Jim Turner (born 4 December 1975) is a New Zealand sailor. He was born in Bridport, England in 1975. Turner was born in Bridport, Dorset, Great Britain in 1975. He sailed with GBR Challenge in the 2003 Louis Vuitton Cup and Areva Challenge in the 2007 Louis Vuitton Cup. Since moving to New Zealand, Turner is a member of the Wakatere Boating Club who has now switched to Murrays Bay Sailing Club.
