Jim Taylor (Australian Footballer)
James Taylor (6 January 1932 – 18 April 2000) was an Australian rules footballer who played with South Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the 1950s. Junior career Athletics He was an outstanding schoolboy athlete, and displayed great talent both a sprinter and as a high-jumper whilst at Caulfield Grammar School. At the 1947 Associated Grammar Schools Combined Athletics Meeting, Taylor won both the under-16 high-jump and the open high-jump — his winning jump in each event was — and, according to Wilkinson (1997, p. 151), he was part of the winning team in the under-16 4x220 yard relay. At the 1948 A.G.S. Combined Sports he won the open high-jump, setting a new record of , and won the open 100 yards (in 10.7 secs), which was an extraordinary feat, given that he had badly strained his ankle a week earlier, and had been unable to train at all for the five days prior to the competition. Jimmie Taylor (born September 3, 1995) is an American professional basketball player for Debreceni EAC of the Hungarian First League. He played college basketball at Alabama. College career Taylor played four seasons for the Alabama Crimson Tide and played in 133 career games (2nd-most in school history) with 99 starts. Over the course of his collegiate career, he averaged 4.7 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.5 blocked shots per game. James Patrick Taylor (born 1 November 1961) was an Australian boy who disappeared at the age of 12 from Derby, Western Australia on 29 August 1974. In 2014 a coroner ruled that Taylor, an Aboriginal boy, had died but was unable to determine when or how. In May 2023 a $1 million reward was offered for information relating to Taylor's disappearance. Disappearance In the late afternoon of 29 August 1974, Taylor had walked to a local shop called Lwoy's Deli to buy lollies and softdrink for himself and his siblings. Sutton–Taylor Feud
The Sutton–Taylor feud began as a county law enforcement issue between relatives of a Texas state law agent, Creed Taylor, and a local law enforcement officer, William Sutton, in DeWitt County, Texas. The feud cost at least 35 lives and eventually included the outlaw John Wesley Hardin as one of its participants. It began in March 1868, not reaching its conclusion until the Texas Rangers put a stop to the fighting in December 1876. James Hugh Taylor (20 March 1920 – 23 September 2005) was an Australian politician. He was a Country Party member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly from 1960 to 1981, representing the electorate of Temora. Taylor was born in Sydney, and was educated by correspondence and at All Saints College in Bathurst. He worked as a station hand after leaving school, before enlisting in the Second Australian Imperial Force in 1940. He left the military at the conclusion of World War II and worked as a property manager at Warren for a period, before becoming a soldier settler at Bogan Gate in 1950. He was active in local affairs, serving as district president of the Farmer and Settlers' Association and chairman of the Forbes to Tottenham Water Development League. He was elected as a councillor of the Shire of Goobang in 1956 and the Central Tablelands County Council in 1959, holding both roles until 1962. James Lindsay Taylor (25 January 1901 – 28 June 1987) was an Australian born, Papua New Guinean explorer. He is most noted for leading patrols (explorations) into the Highlands of Papua New Guinea in the 1930s. In particular the 1933 patrol in the Wahgi Valley with the brothers Dan and Mick Leahy and surveyor Ken Spinks;Argus 1933 and for the Hagen-Sepik patrol with John Black in 1938–39. Taylor enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force in March 1917 aged 16 and served with the 34th Battalion in France where he was gassed and wounded. He also served in the Second World War in the Australian New Guinea Administrative Unit (ANGAU) reaching the rank of Major. Following the war Taylor married and settled at Goroka in the highlands. Omar Ahmed Said Khadr ( ar, عمر أحمد سعيد خضر; born September 19, 1986) is a Canadian citizen who at the age of 15 was detained by the United States at Guantanamo Bay for ten years, during which he pleaded guilty to the murder of U.S. Army Sergeant 1st Class Christopher Speer and other charges. James Allen "Candy Jim" Taylor (February 1, 1884April 3, 1948) was an American third baseman and manager in Negro league baseball. In a career that spanned forty years, he played as an infielder in the early years of the 20th century for over a dozen black baseball teams; by the mid 1920s, he would play less regularly (doing so as a pinch hitter), with his final game came at 58. In 1920, the same year of the start of the golden era of Negro league baseball, he would take on the responsibilities of manager, where he would manage 1,967 games for twelve teams. Described as one of the great strategists of his era, Taylor is the all-time winningest manager in the Negro league era, having 955 wins along with two Negro World Series titles and one additional pennant in 27 seasons as manager.
