Jim Simpson (Australian Politician)
James Brunton Simpson (22 January 1905 – 10 December 1968) was a Scottish-Australian trade unionist, coal miner and politician, elected as a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly for Electoral district of Lake Macquarie, Lake Macquarie for the Australian Labor Party (New South Wales Branch), NSW Branch of the Australian Labor Party (New South Wales Branch), Labor Party. Early life Simpson was born at Shotts, Lanarkshire, Scotland and educated at Dykehead Public School. He started work at the age of fourteen as a coal miner. He arrived in New South Wales with his parents in 1921 and worked in Stockton Borehole Colliery at Boolaroo, New South Wales, Cockle Creek until was seriously injured in a mining accident in 1924 and had to be hospitalised for seven months. He studied commercial subjects and was employed by the Northern Districts Australasian Coal and Shale Employees' Federation, Miners' Federation as its assistant secretary in 1927. Thomas Lancelot Lewis (23 January 1922 – 25 April 2016) was a New South Wales politician, Premier of New South Wales and minister in the cabinets of Robert Askin, Sir Robert Askin and Eric Willis, Sir Eric Willis. He became Premier following Askin's retirement from politics and held the position until he was replaced by Willis in a party vote. Lewis was first elected to the New South Wales Legislative Assembly for the Electoral district of Wollondilly for the Liberal Party of Australia (New South Wales Division), Liberal Party in 1957, and served until his resignation in 1978. Roger Nott
Roger Bede Nott (20 October 1908 – 28 September 2000) was an Australian politician and a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly from 1941 until 1961. He was a member of the Labor Party and held numerous ministerial positions between 1954 and 1961. He was the Administrator of the Northern Territory between 1961 and 1964. Early life Nott was born at Gulgong, New South Wales and was the son of a farmer. Leo Nott, Gulgong Shire President and member of the Legislative Assembly for Mudgee and Burrendong, was his brother.
