Jim Sandral
Jim Sandral (born 19 February 1933) is a former Australian rules football player who played for Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Sandral, who didn't start playing football until the age of 16, commenced his football with Rennie Football Club and played in their 1952 and 1954 premiership teams and winning the club Best and Fairest award in and 1952 and 1954. Sandral won the Coreen & District Football League – Best and Fairest award in 1953 and 1954. He was also runner up to his Rennie coach, Frank O' Leary in the 1952 Coreen & District Football League best and fairest award, the Archie Denis Memorial Trophy. Sandral went into the Ovens and Murray Football League and played with Corowa in 1955 and was signed up by the Melbourne Football Club after starring for the O&MFL in the 1955 Victorian Country Football Championships. ''The Argus'' was an Australian daily morning newspaper in Melbourne from 2 June 1846 to 19 January 1957, and was considered to be the general Australian newspaper of record for this period. The Corowa-Rutherglen Football Netball Club, nicknamed the ''Kangaroos'', is an Australian rules football and netball club based in the town of Corowa in New South Wales. Corowa-Rutherglen's football and netball squads formerly played in the Ovens & Murray Football League. The club is notable for producing many VFL / AFL football players over many years, including John Longmire. History The club was formed in 1979 when the Corowa Spiders and the Rutherglen Redlegs merged to become the "Corowa-Rutherglen Roos". Geoff McGivern (footballer)
William Geoffrey McGivern (27 December 1930 – 15 August 2015) was an Australian rules footballer who played in the Victorian Football League (VFL). In 1950, McGivern began his seven-year career with Melbourne, originally as a half-forward. McGivern won the club's best and fairest In Australian sport, the best and fairest award recognises the player(s) adjudged to have had the best performance in a game or over a season for a given sporting club or competition. The Corowa Football Club, nicknamed the Spiders, was an Australian rules football club based in Corowa, New South Wales, that competed in the Ovens & Murray Football League. The club merged with the Wahgunyah Football Club on several occasions during its early history and as a result was also known as the Border United Football Club from time to time between 1877 and 1947.
