Jim Price (musician)
James William Price (born 1945, Fort Worth, Texas, United States) is an American session musician. Because of saxophone player Bobby Keys' work with the Rolling Stones, Price was able to play with the Stones for most of the 1970s. He toured extensively with The Rolling Stones from 1970 until 1973, including their 1972 American Tour, and appears along with Keys on the albums ''Sticky Fingers'', ''Exile on Main St.'' and ''Goats Head Soup''. From September 1968 to February 1969, Price played with New Buffalo Springfield. He also toured and recorded with Delaney & Bonnie and Friends, Joe Cocker's '' Mad Dogs and Englishmen'' and Eric Clapton. Price played on several songs on Harry Nilsson's ''Nilsson Schmilsson. Career Price worked as a session musician, playing trombone and trumpet in the Los Angeles area. His work on the Delaney & Bonnie album ''Accept No Substitute'' (1969) led to touring with the band. ''Exile on Main St.'' is the 10th British and 12th American studio album by the English rock band the Rolling Stones, released on 12 May 1972 by Rolling Stones Records. Recording began in 1969 in England during sessions for ''Sticky Fingers'' and continued in mid-1971 at a rented villa in the South of France named Nellcôte while the band lived abroad as tax exiles. A collage of various images, the album's artwork, according to frontman Mick Jagger, reflects the Rolling Stones as "runaway outlaws using the blues as its weapon against the world". Working with a mobile recording studio, the loose and unorganised Nellcôte sessions went on for hours into the night, with personnel varying greatly from day to day. ''Eric Clapton'' is the debut studio album by English rock musician Eric Clapton, released in August 1970 by Atco and Polydor Records. Background and artwork After being in several successful rock bands including The Yardbirds, John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, Cream and Blind Faith, Clapton recorded an album under his own name in late 1969 and early 1970. The album cover, photographed by Barry Feinstein, depicts Clapton sitting in a Los Angeles photo studio while smoking a cigarette, his Fender Stratocaster Brownie electric guitar leaning between his legs. ''The Original Delaney & Bonnie'', also known by its subtitle ''Accept No Substitute'', is the second studio album by American recording duo Delaney & Bonnie. It was recorded with many of the "friends" that would form the core of their best-known 1969–70 touring band, including Bobby Whitlock, Carl Radle and Rita Coolidge. ''The Original Delaney & Bonnie & Friends'' was released in July 1969 after Delaney & Bonnie had signed to Elektra Records. It charted at only number 175 on the ''Billboard'' 200 in August, but it received widespread acclaim from critics. The trumpet is a brass instrument commonly used in classical and jazz ensembles. The trumpet group ranges from the piccolo trumpet—with the highest register in the brass family—to the bass trumpet, pitched one octave below the standard B or C trumpet. ''Mad Dogs & Englishmen'' is a live album by Joe Cocker, released in 1970. The album's title is drawn from the 1931 Noël Coward song of the same name and Leon Russell's "Ballad of Mad Dogs and Englishmen". Only four songs of the 16 on the original album were drawn from his first two studio albums. Besides the contributions of bandmate and musical director Leon Russell, it draws equally from rock (the Rolling Stones, Traffic, Bob Dylan, the Beatles) and soul (Ray Charles, Sam & Dave, Otis Redding). Accompanying Cocker is a choir, a three-piece horn section and several drummers. The single "The Letter"/"Space Captain", recorded during rehearsals was released to coincide with the tour.
