Jim Middleton (journalist)
Jim Middleton is an Australian journalist and was a senior advisor to former South Australian Senator Tim Storer. Middleton graduated from the University of Western Australia before joining the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) in 1970. Middleton was involved in the transformation of radio station 2JJ into the national Triple J brand, networked nationally around Australia. He served as the ABC's North America correspondent until 1988, when he became the ABC's chief political correspondent in Canberra. In 2008, Middleton left his political role in Canberra to join the Australia Network, presenting ''Newsline'' and ''The World''. Middleton took a voluntary redundancy from the ABC following the closure of the Australia Network due to funding cuts signing off on 2 September 2014. The University of Western Australia (UWA) is a public research university in the Australian state of Western Australia. The university's main campus is in Perth, the state capital, with a secondary campus in Albany, Western Australia, Albany and various other facilities elsewhere. Tim Storer
Timothy Raphael Storer (born 24 October 1969) is a former Australian politician who served as a Senator for South Australia from February 2018 to June 2019. Following the disqualification of Skye Kakoschke-Moore during the parliamentary eligibility crisis, the Court of Disputed Returns declared Storer elected on a countback. He had been ranked below Kakoschke-Moore on the Nick Xenophon Team's ticket at the 2016 federal election. However, by the time he was declared elected he had left the party. He sat in the Senate as an independent and did not recontest his seat at the 2019 election. ''The World'' is an Australian news program which broadcasts on ABC News from 10pm to 11pm on weekdays. The program is hosted by Beverley O'Connor and airs live in all Australian time zones on the ABC News channel. ''Agenda'' is the name given to a series of Australian television news and commentary programs, broadcast on Sky News Australia throughout the week. The ''Agenda'' series of bulletins serve as the channel's flagship program. The series focuses on mainly political topics, and in each episode the host usually interviews a guest, and is then usually joined by either Sky News contributors or politicians from opposing sides of politics debating the issues of the day. With the exception of ''Sunday Agenda'' and the Thursday episode of ''PM Agenda'', the program is broadcast live from the Sky News studio at Parliament House in Canberra. Climate 200 is an Australian company that provides political funding. It describes itself as a "community crowdfunding initiative" that supports community-backed independents to stand for election to advance climate policy, reduce greenhouse gas emissions by the country and limit climate change in Australia. Its convener told the ABC that the backed candidates "have a shared philosophy on climate change, integrity and gender equity."
