Jim Madigan (born August 5, 1962) is the current Athletic Director for Northeastern University Northeastern University (NU) is a private university, private research university with its main campus in Boston. Northeastern Huskies Men's Ice Hockey
The Northeastern Huskies men's ice hockey team is an NCAA Division I college ice hockey program that represents Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. The team has competed in Hockey East since 1984 and has won three tournament titles, having previously played in the Eastern College Athletic Conference ( ECAC), where they won one tournament championship. The Huskies currently play home games at the 4,666-seat Matthews Arena, the world's oldest hockey arena still in use. Jerry Keefe assumed the head coach role in 2021 after longtime coach Jim Madigan moved to athletic director. 2020–21 Northeastern Huskies Men's Ice Hockey Season
The 2020–21 Northeastern Huskies Men's ice hockey season was the 89th season of play for the program and the 37th season in the Hockey East conference. The Huskies represented Northeastern University and were coached by Jim Madigan, in his 10th season. Season As a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic the entire college ice hockey season was delayed. Because the NCAA had previously announced that all winter sports athletes would retain whatever eligibility they possessed through at least the following year, none of Northeastern's players would lose a season of play. However, the NCAA also approved a change in its transfer regulations that would allow players to transfer and play immediately rather than having to sit out a season, as the rules previously required. In February, seven members that had previously announced their withdrawal from the WCHA following the 2020–21 season announced that they were reforming the Central Collegiate Hockey Association, and that the new conference would begin play with the 2021–22 season.
