Jim Graner
James R. Graner (February 21, 1919 – January 15, 1976) was the weeknight sports anchor for Cleveland NBC affiliate KYW-TV (later WKYC) beginning in 1957. He also served as color commentator for the Cleveland Browns Radio Network, most notably alongside Cleveland sportscaster Gib Shanley. Graner had operated in both capacities for nearly twenty years when brain cancer took his life in 1976. Early life Graner was born in Akron, Ohio, but grew up in its neighboring suburb of Stow. After graduating from Stow High School in 1937, he attended Ohio Wesleyan University, but left after two years to work at a Cleveland railroad office. Graner also served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and upon his return, went into broadcasting as a radio announcer. He later married and had a son, Lou. Akron () is the fifth-largest city in the U.S. state of Ohio and is the county seat of Summit County, Ohio, Summit County. Rail transport (also known as train transport) is a means of transport that transfers passengers and goods on wheeled vehicles running on rails, which are incorporated in tracks. Jim Donovan (sportscaster)
James Francis Donovan III (born July 17, 1956) is an American radio and television personality who serves as sports director and news anchor for WKYC channel 3 (NBC) in Cleveland, Ohio, and has been the radio voice of the Cleveland Browns Radio Network since 1999. Early life and career beginnings Donovan was born in Boston, Massachusetts. He is a 1978 graduate of Boston University and began his career as a sports director for WJON radio in St. Cloud, Minnesota. From Minnesota, he moved to Vermont, providing play-by-play basketball and hockey coverage for the Satellite News Channel in Burlington, Vermont. Bob Neal (Cleveland Sportscaster)
Robert Neal (1916 – December 29, 1983) was an American sportscaster who worked primarily in Cleveland, Ohio. Neal graduated from Columbia University. He broadcast the Cleveland Indians on radio 1957–1961 and 1965–1972, and on television 1952–1953 and 1962–1964. He was also the original broadcaster for Cleveland Browns football games on radio and television starting in 1946 and continuing through 1951. He handled the 1954 Orange Bowl game for CBS television, 1955 and 1956 World Series for Mutual radio and the 1957 World Series for NBC radio. In 1955, Neal began his own ''World of Sports'' program Monday - Thursday nights on Mutual. Wally Kinnan
Henry Wallace Kinnan (March 7, 1919 – November 22, 2002) was an American decorated World War II hero, also was one of the first well-known U.S. pioneer television broadcast meteorologists. Kinnan held American Meteorological Society Television Seal #3. Kinnan, who also served in World War II as a B-17 bomber pilot and then an advanced weather officer attaining the rank of captain in the United States Air Force before resigning in March 1953 to enter broadcasting in Oklahoma. Personal and family background Kinnan was born to David V. Kinnan and Hazel Hamer. He met his wife, the former Marjorie G. Ahrendt, at North High School in Columbus, Ohio, where they both attended. Dick Goddard
Richard Duane Goddard (February 24, 1931 – August 4, 2020) was an American television meteorologist, author, cartoonist, and animal activist. From 1966 until his retirement in 2016, he was the evening meteorologist at WJW-TV in Cleveland, Ohio. Goddard holds the Guinness World Record for longest career as a weather forecaster after passing Canadian meteorologist Peter Coade. Joe Finan
Joseph Albert Finan (July 6, 1927 – December 19, 2006) was an American radio show host. Finan was born in 1927 in Butler, Pennsylvania. He served in the United States Navy 1944–45 and attended Carnegie Tech, now Carnegie Mellon University, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He began his broadcasting career as a weatherman in early 1950s at KYW-TV (now WKYC-TV) and radio personality on KYW radio in Cleveland, Ohio. While at KYW-TV, Finan worked alongside sports anchors Bob Neal and Jim Graner, and preceded weatherman Dick Goddard. While a top rated disc jockey at KYW, Finan was implicated in the 1960 payola scandal that also named Alan Freed and others.
