Jim Donnelly (politician)
James O. Donnelly (born 1967) is an American politician and businessperson from Presque Isle, Maine. Donnelly was elected at age 23 to the Maine House of Representatives as a Republican. He served four two-year terms and was unable to seek re-election in 1998 due to the newly initiated term-limits. During his final term in the Legislature, Donnelly was elected Minority Leader of the House of Representatives. At age 30, he was the youngest person to hold such a title in the United States at the time. In 2002, Donnelly was appointed treasurer of the Loring Development Authority board of trustees, which oversees the redevelopment of Loring Air Force Base in Limestone, Maine Limestone is a town in Aroostook County, Maine, Aroostook County, Maine, United States. Presque Isle is the commercial center and largest city in Aroostook County, Maine, United States. The population was 8,797 at the 2020 Census. The Maine House of Representatives is the lower house of the Maine Legislature. The House consists of 151 voting members and three nonvoting members. The voting members represent an equal number of districts across the state and are elected via plurality voting. The nonvoting members represent three of Maine's Native American tribes, though two tribes have declined to send representatives. Each voting member of the House represents around 9,000 citizens of the state. Loring Air Force Base was a United States Air Force installation in northeastern Maine, near Limestone and Caribou in Aroostook County. It was one of the largest bases of the U.S. Air Force's Strategic Air Command during its existence, and was transferred to the newly created Air Combat Command in 1992. The base's origins began in 1947 with an order for construction of an airfield by the New England Division of the United States Army Corps of Engineers.
