Jim Dillard (Canadian Football)
James Austin Dillard (December 21, 1938 – July 19, 2022) was an American football halfback who played for the Calgary Stampeders, Ottawa Rough Riders and Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played college football at Oklahoma State University–Stillwater and also had stints with the Baltimore Colts and Minnesota Vikings in the National Football League (NFL). Early life and education Dillard was born on December 21, 1938, in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, to Austin and Eunice Dillard. He attended high school in Fairfax, where he participated in football and track and was given the nickname "Fairfax Freighter". In football, he was named team most valuable player, most outstanding back in the conference, All-American, and all-state. Most forms of football have a move known as a tackle. The primary purposes of tackling are to dispossess an opponent of the ball, to stop the player from gaining ground towards goal or to stop them from carrying out what they intend. The word is used in some contact variations of football to describe the act of physically holding or wrestling a player to the ground. Cliff Speegle
Clifton M. Speegle (November 4, 1917 – September 5, 1994) was an American football player, coach, and college athletics administrator. He served as the head football coach at Oklahoma State University–Stillwater from 1955 to 1962, compiling a record of 36–42–3. During his tenure, Oklahoma State was 0–8 in the Bedlam Series, their rivalry game against the Oklahoma Sooners football, Oklahoma Sooners. Speegle was fired in 1962. He played college football at the University of Oklahoma from 1938 to 1940. In gridiron football, defensive backs (DBs), also called the secondary, are the players on the defensive side of the ball who play farthest back from the line of scrimmage. They are distinguished from the other two sets of defensive players, the defensive linemen who play directly on the line of scrimmage, and the linebackers, who play in the middle of the defense, between the defensive line and the defensive backs.
