Jim Costa
James Manuel Costa (born April 13, 1952) is an American politician serving as the United States House of Representatives, U.S. representative for since 2023, previously representing the California's 20th congressional district, 20th congressional district from 2005 to 2013 and the California's 16th congressional district, 16th congressional district from 2013 to 2023. A member of the Democratic Party (United States), Democratic Party, his district includes most of Fresno. Costa served in the California State Assembly from 1978 to 1994 before he was elected to the California State Senate from 1994 until 2002. During his time in the California State Assembly, he served as Majority Caucus Chair. John Hans Krebs (December 17, 1926 – November 10, 2014) was an Israeli-American politician and attorney who served as a U.S. Representative for California's 17th congressional district from 1975 to 1979. Early life and education Born in 1926 in Berlin, then in the Weimar Republic (now Germany), Krebs moved to British-mandated Palestine in 1933 and attended Balfour School (elementary), 1937. He graduated from Ben Yehuda College in 1945. As a young man, he volunteered for Haganah, a Jewish paramilitary group that supported the creation of an Israeli state.
