Jim Clark (offensive Lineman)
James Kalaeone Clark (July 28, 1929 – July 30, 2000) was an American football guard in the National Football League (NFL) for the Washington Redskins. He played college football at Oregon State University and was drafted in the fifth round of the 1952 NFL Draft. After his football career, Clark was elected to the Hawaii House of Representatives in 1962 as a Republican and served there until 1966, when he won his first term in the Hawaii Senate; in 1969 he switched to the Democratic Party. Guard (American Football)
In gridiron football, a guard (G), otherwise known as an offensive guard (OG), is a player who lines up between the center and the tackles on the offensive line of a football team on the line of scrimmage used primarily for blocking. Right guards (RG) is the term for the guards on the right of the offensive line, while left guards (LG) are on the left side. Guards are to the right or left of the center. The guard's job is to protect the quarterback from the incoming linemen during pass plays, as well as creating openings (holes) for the running backs to head through. Guards are automatically considered ineligible receivers, so they cannot intentionally touch a forward pass, unless it is to recover a fumble or is first touched by a defender or eligible receiver. Neal Blaisdell
Neal Shaw Blaisdell (November 6, 1902 – November 5, 1975) served as Mayor of Honolulu from 1955 to 1969 as a member of the Hawaii Republican Party. As chief executive of the City and County of Honolulu, Hawaii, he oversaw one of the largest construction booms in city and county history, working closely with Governor John A. Burns. Blaisdell was the sitting mayor when Hawaii became the 50th U.S. state on August 21, 1959. Early life Blaisdell was born in Honolulu and had European and Hawaiian ancestry.
