Jim Clark (Australian Footballer)
James Clark (24 March 1925 – 17 August 2013) was an Australian rules footballer for Carlton in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Clark made his VFL debut in round 7, 1943 against Melbourne Football Club at Carlton's home ground Princes Park, and played in two premiership teams; the infamous 1945 "Bloodbath" Grand Final against South Melbourne, and the one-point victory against in 1947 in which he was generally considered Carlton's best player on the ground for his strong defensive and dashing rebound play in the backline. Echuca ( ) is a town on the banks of the Murray River and Campaspe River in Victoria, Australia. The border town of Moama is adjacent on the northern side of the Murray River in New South Wales. Echuca is the administrative centre and largest settlement in the Shire of Campaspe. As of the , Echuca had a population of 15,056, and the population of the combined Echuca and Moama townships was 22,568. Echuca lies within traditional Yorta Yorta country. The town's name is a Yorta Yorta word meaning "meeting of the waters". Echuca is close to the junction of the Goulburn, Campaspe, and Murray Rivers. 1951 VFL Season
The 1951 VFL season was the 55th season of the Victorian Football League (VFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Victoria. The season featured twelve clubs, ran from 21 April until 29 September, and comprised an 18-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top four clubs. The premiership was won by the Geelong Football Club for the fourth time, after it defeated by eleven points in the 1951 VFL Grand Final. Premiership season In 1951, the VFL competition consisted of twelve teams of 18 on-the-field players each, plus two substitute players, known as the 19th man and the 20th man. A player could be substituted for any reason; however, once substituted, a player could not return to the field of play under any circumstances. The Victoria Australian rules football team, known colloquially as the Big V, is the state representative side of Victoria, Australia, in the sport of Australian rules football. The Big V has a proud history, dominating the first 100 years of intercolonial-interstate football, and being the most successful state in State of Origin. After the change to State of Origin rules, the results with the other main Australian football states became more even. The Echuca Football Netball Club, nicknamed the ''Murray Bombers'', is an Australian rules football and netball club based in the Victorian town of Echuca, Victoria (Australia), Victoria. History The Echuca Football Club was formed in 1874, so it could play against the Rochester Football Club which was also formed in 1874 too. Echuca initially wore the blue and white colours. In 1890, Echuca won the Aitken Tropy, then 1891, Echuca East Football Club won the trophy, then in 1892, Rochester won the initial premiership and Echuca protested, which resulted in the two teams having to play a grand final match. Rochester refused to play, with Echuca travelling over to Rochester to play, but with no competing team, Echuca claimed the premiership match, after the first bounce. 1947 VFL Grand Final
The 1947 VFL Grand Final was an Australian rules football match contested between the Carlton Football Club and Essendon Football Club, held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on 27 September 1947. It was the 49th annual Grand Final of the Victorian Football League, staged to determine the premiers for the 1947 VFL season. The match, attended by 85,793 spectators, was won by Carlton by one point, marking that club's eighth VFL premiership. The winning goal was kicked by Fred Stafford in the dying seconds of the match to give Carlton the win. Elmore, Victoria
Elmore is a small town in Victoria north-east of Bendigo on the Campaspe River. Elmore is close to the Whipstick State Park. At the , Elmore had a population of 776. History In the 1840s a small settlement developed on the Campaspe River servicing pastoral runs. The Post Office opened on 1 January 1849 as Bertram's Inn. On 1 January 1850 it was renamed Campaspie (sic). In 1864 when the township was established the name became Runnymede and in around 1882 the name was changed again to Elmore.
