Jim Christou
Jim Christou (born 24 December 1952) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Fitzroy in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Christou, while playing for Heidelberg, won the Diamond Valley Football League's best and fairest award in 1971. A rover, he started his Fitzroy career in the 1972 VFL season and in 1975 was joined in the team by his younger brother John. His nine games in 1975 were the most that he would play in a single season. He played thirty senior games for Fitzroy over 4½ years. During the 1976 season, Christou believed he wasn't being afforded a fair opportunity for regular selection at Fitzroy, and he sought a clearance to . When Fitzroy rejected his clearance, he transferred at midseason without a clearance to Port Melbourne in the Victorian Football Association (the VFA and VFL did not have a reciprocal permit agreement in place). Heidelberg Football Club is an Australian rules football club in Heidelberg, Victoria, currently competing in the Northern Football League. History Established in 1876, Heidelberg Football Club is one of the oldest Australian rules football clubs in the country. Northcote Football Club (/ˈnoːθ.kət/), nicknamed The Dragons, was an Australian rules football club which played in the VFA from 1908 until 1987. The club's colours for most of its time in the VFA were green and yellow and it was based in the Melbourne suburb of Northcote. Victorian Premier Cricket is a club cricket competition in the state of Victoria administered by Cricket Victoria. Each club fields four teams (firsts through to fourths) of adult players and usually play on weekends and public holidays. Matches are played on turf wickets under limited-time rules, with most results being decided on a first-innings basis. Outstanding players in the competition are selected to play for the Victorian Bushrangers at first-class and List A level, in the Sheffield Shield and Marsh One Day Cup competitions respectively. Caulfield Football Club was an Australian rules football club which played in the Victorian Football Association, VFA from 1965 until 1987 when due to financial difficulties the club folded. History Origins The Camden Town Football Club was based in the South Caulfield area and had been in existence from at least 1898. In 1910 they entered a side in the Federal Football Association Junior competition. They won the premiership in 1911. Play was suspended for the World War I. After the war the club resumed and changed its name to South Caulfield and joined the VJFA. In 1922 the club won lower grade premiership. The Ovens and Murray Football Netball League (O&MFNL) is an Australian rules football and netball competition containing ten clubs based in north-eastern Victoria, the southern Riverina region of New South Wales and the Ovens and Murray area. The name comes from the Ovens River, the river in the part of north-eastern Victoria covered by the league, and the Murray River, which separates Victoria and New South Wales. The league features three grades in the Australian rules football competition, with these being First-Grade, Reserve-Grade and Under 18s.
