Jim Bob Helduser
Jim Bob Helduser (February 27, 1957 – February 26, 2010) was an American football coach whose last coaching role was as an assistant coach for the Bryan High School Vikings football team. His last college coaching position was as the offensive line coach at Texas A&M University (2003–2007). Early life Helduser was a native of Groves, Texas and a 1975 graduate of Port Neches–Groves High School. He attended Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, where he graduated ''summa cum laude'' in 1979 with a degree in biology, before earning a master's degree in educational administration at Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos. Coaching career His first coaching experience was at Alief Elsik High School in Houston. He then became an assistant to Ray Alborn at Rice University. Following Alborn's dismissal in 1983, Helduser dropped out of the collegiate coaching ranks for a couple of years. Groves, Texas
Groves is a city in Jefferson County, Texas, United States. The population was 17,335 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Beaumont– Port Arthur Metropolitan Statistical Area. History In 1886, Sam Courville moved his family from a Sabine Lake settlement in Port Arthur to a new home on of land. It was in that same general area around 1911 that John Warne Gates purchased additional tracts of land. The land was conveyed to the Griffing brothers of Port Arthur in 1916, and three years later Griffing Brothers Nursery employee Wiley Choate supervised the planting of several thousand pecan trees on a tract. In 1921, the Port Arthur Land Development Company took control of the site and divided the land into a residential subdivision known as "Pecan Grove". Alief Elsik High School
Alief Elsik High School is a high school in the Alief region of Houston, Texas, United States. Elsik is divided into two campuses: the main campus (12601 High Star in Houston, zip code 77072), and the Alief Elsik Ninth Grade Center (located at 6767 South Dairy Ashford, city of Houston, 77072), which serves ninth graders. Both campuses, which are in the Alief Independent School District, serve grades 9 through 12. The ninth grade campus is located in the International District although the main high school building is outside of it. The school's mascot is a ram, and the school's basketball and football teams are well known throughout Texas, as is the speech and debate team. Western Athletic Conference
The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) is an NCAA Division I conference. The WAC covers a broad expanse of the western United States with member institutions located in Arizona, California, New Mexico, Utah, Washington (state), Washington, and Texas. LaDainian Tomlinson
LaDainian Tarshane Tomlinson (born June 23, 1979) is a former American football running back who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 11 seasons. After a successful college career with the TCU Horned Frogs, the San Diego Chargers selected him as the fifth overall pick in the 2001 NFL Draft. He spent nine years with the Chargers, earning five Pro Bowl appearances, three Associated Press first-team All-Pro nominations, and two NFL rushing titles. Tomlinson was also voted NFL MVP in 2006 after breaking the record for touchdowns in a single season. He played two further seasons with the New York Jets, before retiring. Lake Travis High School is a public high school located in unincorporated Travis County, Texas, United States, approximately 20 miles west of Austin, near Lake Travis. The preparatory is accredited by the Texas Education Agency and rated as an exemplary secondary by TEA standards. Robert Damien DeBesse aka uncle Bob (born September 30, 1959) is an American football coach. He was most recently the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach of the Georgia Southern Eagles. He was relieved of his duties by Head Coach Chad Lunsford during the 2020 season. DeBesse attended Stratford High School in Houston, Texas and earned his Bachelor of Science in education at the Southwest Texas State University in 1982. He began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Southwest Texas State, before being hired as an offensive assistant to Jim Wacker at Texas Christian University. In 1990 he was appointed offensive coordinator. DeBesse followed Wacker to Minnesota in 1992. He succeeded Jim Bob Helduser as head coach at his alma mater in 1997. Dennis Wayne Franchione (born March 28, 1951), also known as Coach Fran, is a retired American football coach. He is the former head football coach at Texas State University, a position he held from 1990 to 1991, when the school was known as Southwest Texas State University, and resumed from 2011 to 2015.
