Jim Anderson (17 November 1869 – 13 September 1947) was an Australian rules footballer who played for the Essendon Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Family The son of John Stewart Anderson (1846-1918), and Rebecca Irene Anderson (1835-1915), née Oswald, née Tyrer, James Anderson was born at Sandford, near Casterton, Victoria on 17 November 1869. He married Phoebe Faull Rodda (1871-1955) on 30 September 1896. Football Essendon (VFA) Recruited from Scotch College, Melbourne, then situated in East Melbourne, Anderson, a defender, played in three successive premiership teams in 1892-1894 during his time with Essendon in the VFA. James William Anderson (December 1, 1930 – March 10, 2013) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player and head coach. Anderson played 7 games with the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League (NHL), and was the first head coach of the Washington Capitals. He was born in Pembroke, Ontario. Playing career Jim Anderson spent the majority of his 16-year minor league career with the Springfield Indians franchise of the AHL, and remains the all-time leader in games played, goals and points for the franchise. In his first season with Springfield, Anderson scored 39 goals and was awarded the Dudley "Red" Garrett Memorial Award as AHL rookie of the year in 1954–55. In the early 1960s, Anderson scored 35 or more goals for Springfield for five straight years, helping lead the team to three consecutive Calder Cup championships, to this day the only AHL franchise to win three straight. Jim Anderson (born April 20, 1937) is an American retired college basketball coach. He served as head men's basketball coach at Oregon State University from 1989 to 1995, compiling a record of 79–90. Anderson attended Oregon State as an undergrad, playing on teams that won three Far West Classic titles and a Pacific Coast Conference championship in 1958. In his senior season he was named to the Classic's all-tournament team. While at OSU he was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity. He graduated in 1959. Anderson's debut as coach came in 1960, when he was named freshmen coach. He began his stint as assistant varsity coach in 1964, and when named Head Coach he was only the fourth to hold that title since 1929. James Lea Anderson (born February 23, 1957) is an American former infielder in Major League Baseball, playing mainly as a shortstop for three different teams in parts of six seasons spanning 1978–1984. Listed at 6'0", 170 lb. he batted and threw right handed. Anderson was selected by the California Angels in the second round of the 1975 MLB draft. He debuted with the Angels in 1978, playing for them two years before joining the Seattle Mariners (1980–1981) and the Texas Rangers (1983–1984). Anderson made his first major league appearance on July 2, 1978 at Anaheim Stadium, and he went 1-for-3 with a walk against Rangers pitchers Dock Ellis and Steve Comer, as the Angels won 4-3. James Allan Anderson OBE (born 14 April 1963) is a Scottish former paralympic swimmer who competed in the S2 classification. He is a six-time Paralympic Games, nine-time World Paraswimming champion. Swimming career Anderson has represented Great Britain at the Paralympic Games on six occasions, in 1992, 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008 and the 2012 Summer Paralympics. Leonard "Jim" James Anderson 27 May 1931 – 27 June 2019) was a Ulster loyalism, loyalist paramilitary leader from Northern Ireland, who from April to December 1972, was the acting leader of the Ulster Defence Association (UDA) while its commander and the founder of the organisation, Charles Harding Smith was in jail on remand for gun-running. Jim Anderson (born 1937) is a British-Australian editor and novelist. He edited '' OZ Magazine'' and later wrote the novels ''Billarooby'' and ''Chipman's African Adventure''. Early life and education Anderson was born in Haverhill, Suffolk, but his family emigrated to Australia when he was one year old. This was due to his father having a dispute with his own father, with whom he never reconciled.
