"Jika" (Zulu: "twist") is a song by South African house band Mi Casa. It was released as the lead single from their second studio album, ''Su Casa'' (2013). The song was the most played song for 12 straight weeks on several radio stations in South Africa, including Metro FM, 5FM, YFM, Ukhozi FM, Highveld Studio, and Gagasi 99.5 FM. It peaked at number 1 on BBC Radio 1Xtra, a digital radio station in the United Kingdom. The song also peaked at number 1 on MTV Base's Official SA Top 10 chart for the week of 31 October through 6 November 2013. Moreover, it peaked at number 1 on Trace TV's 30 Urban Hits. Background and recording J Something, the band's vocalist, told Showbiz.co.za that charting on BBC Radio 1Xtra was unreal. Chymamusique
Collen Mmotla (born 4 June 1990) is a South African DJ and music producer. Born and raised Diphale, Burgersfort, Chyma started his musical career in early 2000's as a pianist prior becoming a DJ. His third studio album ''Musique'' (2022), debuted number one in South Africa. Education After completed his matric in 2007, he attended University of Technology studying Analytical Chemistry. He also attended Boston College studied media and graduated in 2013. Career Chymamusique started his music career in 2000 as a gospel music, gospel and jazz pianist. He later developed an interest in house music in 2005 and started producing it in 2006. He released his first online single in 2010. Mi Casa
Mi Casa is a house trio based in Johannesburg, South Africa and consisting of three members, Dr. Duda (producer and pianist), J'Something (vocalist and guitarist), and Mo-T (trumpeter). The band was formed in early 2011 in Johannesburg when all three future members were at a night lounge and decided to perform together. A few months later, they released an album titled ''Micasa Music'', which went gold certification quickly and won several awards at the 18th Annual MTN South Africa Music Awards in 2012. The band's second studio album Su Casa (2015) reached number one in South Africa. The band then embarked on a Mi Casa Gone Global Tour. South African Music Awards
The South African Music Awards (often simply the SAMAs) are the Recording Industry of South Africa's music industry awards, established in 1995. The ceremony is held annually, usually in late April or May, with the judging process starting in November of the previous year. The nominations are typically announced at the end of March. The winners receive a gold-plated statuette called a SAMA. The show has mostly been held at the Super Bowl in Sun City, with the exception of three years, and broadcast live on national broadcaster, SABC. The MTV Africa Music Awards (also known as the MAMAs) were established in 2008 by MTV Networks Africa (now Viacom International Media Networks Africa) to celebrate the most popular contemporary music in Africa. The Durban Botanic Gardens is situated in the city of Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. It is Durban's oldest public institution and Africa's oldest surviving botanical gardens. MTV Base was a British pay television music channel from Paramount Networks UK & Australia that focused primarily on hip hop, R&B, grime, garage, reggae, funk, soul and dance music. It was launched as part of MTV's digital boutique of music channels on July 1, 1999 in both the United Kingdom and in Ireland. MTV Base closed on 31 March 2022, and was replaced by MTV 90s.
