Jigsaw (tool)
A jigsaw is a saw which uses a reciprocating saw, reciprocating blade to cut irregular curves, such as stenciled designs, in wood, metal, or other materials. Jigsaws first emerged in the 19th century and employed a treadle to operate the blade, which was thin and under tension, being secured at both ends to an oscillating frame. This kind of saw is now usually called called a scroll saw. The modern portable jigsaw, with a rigid blade secured at one end, was introduced in 1947 by Scintilla AG (later acquired by Robert Bosch GmbH, Bosch), A jigsaw power tool is made up of an electric motor and a reciprocating saw blade. Jigsaws with sole plates that have a beveling function can cut angles typically up to 45 degrees relative to the normal vertical stroke to make miter joints. Portable jigsaws have historically been mains-powered, but are increasingly being displaced by battery-powered models. History In 1946 Albert Kaufmann, an engineer of Scintilla AG company in Solothurn, Sw ...

Jigsaw (British Band)
Jigsaw was an English pop rock band best known for their 1975 hit "Sky High". The band was fronted by the singer-songwriter duo of Clive Scott and Des Dyer for most of its life. Following Scott's death in 2009, it has been the platform for Dyer's solo work. In Australia, the group was called "British Jigsaw" due to the existence of an Australian band of the same name. Early days Formed as a six-piece in Coventry and Rugby in 1966, Jigsaw's original line-up consisted of Dave "Biffo" Beech (vocals and drums), Clive Scott (keyboards and vocals), Barrie Bernard (bass guitar), Tony Campbell (guitar), Tony Britnell (saxophone) and Kevin "Beppy" Mahon (tenor saxophone). Campbell named the band after Manchester nightclub The Jigsaw Club. Previously, Campbell, Mahon and Beech had worked together in The Mighty Avengers, Bernard had been a member of Pinkerton's Assorted Colours, and Britnell had worked with The Fortunes. Their style initially bore more resemblance to the blues rock t ...

Jigdo
Jigdo (a portmanteau of "Jigsaw" and "download") is a utility typically used for downloading to piece together a large file, most commonly an optical disk image such as a CD, DVD or Blu-ray Disc (BD) image, from many smaller individual constituent files. The constituent files may be local and/or retrieved from one or more mirror sites. Jigdo's features are similar to BitTorrent, but unlike BitTorrent, Jigdo uses a client-server model, not peer-to-peer. Jigdo itself is quite portable and is available for many UNIX and Unix-like operating systems, and is also available for Microsoft Windows. Released under the terms of the GPL-2.0-only license, Jigdo is free software. Uses A quite common use would be to construct a Linux CD or DVD image for installation or distribution, where a slightly older version or release of same, or a cache or local partial mirror, already contains some or many of the needed constituent files. That would typically proceed as follows: Jigdo would ...

Java Platform Module System
The Java Platform Module System specifies a distribution format for collections of Java code and associated resources. It also specifies a repository for storing these collections, or ''modules'', and identifies how they can be discovered, loaded and checked for integrity. It includes features such as namespaces with the aim of fixing some of the shortcomings in the existing JAR format, especially the JAR Hell, which can lead to issues such as classpath and class loading problems. The Java Module System was initially being developed under the Java Community Process as JSR 277 and was scheduled to be released with Java 7. JSR 277 later was put on hold and Project Jigsaw was created to modularize the JDK. This JSR was superseded by JSR 376 (Java Platform Module System). Project Jigsaw was originally intended for Java 7 (2011) but was deferred to Java 8 (2014) as part of Plan B, and again deferred to a Java 9 release in 2017. Java 9 including the Java Module System was released on ...

Camera Camera (Renaissance Album)
''Camera Camera'' is the tenth studio album by the English progressive rock band Renaissance, released in 1981. After losing two of their five members and being dropped from their label, Renaissance signed on to Miles Copeland's I.R.S. Records. The departed members were replaced by keyboardist/singer Peter Gosling and drummer Peter Barron (neither of whom is included in the album's band photos). Between the previous Renaissance album and ''Camera Camera'', Annie Haslam and Michael Dunford had worked with Gosling as a trio called Nevada, releasing two singles and recording several demos. Nevada's somewhat new wave sound strongly influenced ''Camera Camera''. One of the ''Camera Camera'' songs, "Faeries", had previously been recorded (but not released) by Nevada. The original 1981 UK release of ''Camera Camera'' did not include the single "Bonjour Swansong"; but the song has been included on all releases of the album since 1982. This was the last Renaissance studio album to ...
