Jiantan Station
Jiantan (, formerly transliterated as Chientan Station until 2003) is a metro station in Taipei, Taiwan served by Taipei Metro. There was a station of the same name on the now-defunct Tamsui railway line, however the position was different; the TRA station was further south. Station overview The two-level, elevated station structure with one island platform and two side exits. The washrooms are inside the entrance area. Notable landmarks are National Revolutionary Martyrs' Shrine, Jiantan Park and Ming Chuan University. This station is well known for its architecture, which is based on a dragon boat. Taipei Metro
Taipei Mass Rapid Transit (MRT), branded as Metro Taipei, is a rapid transit system serving the areas of Taipei and New Taipei City, New Taipei in Taiwan, operated by the State-owned enterprise, government-owned Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation, which also operates the Maokong Gondola. The Taipei Metro Xiangshan station is a metro station on the Red Line located in Xinyi, Taipei, Taiwan. The station opened on November 24, 2013. Station overview The two-level, underground station with an island platform. It is located beneath Xinyi Rd., Sec. 5 east of Songren Rd. and near the north end of Zhongqiang Park and the Xinyi Expressway. Island Platform
An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. They are also useful within larger stations where local and express services for the same direction of travel can be provided from opposite sides of the same platform thereby simplifying transfers between the two tracks. An alternative arrangement is to position side platforms on either side of the tracks. The historical use of island platforms depends greatly upon the location.
