Jhedli van Briesies (born 15 July 2001) is a South African cricketer. He made his first-class debut on 16 January 2020, for South Western Districts in the 2019–20 CSA 3-Day Provincial Cup. He made his List A debut on 26 January 2020, for South Western Districts in the 2019–20 CSA Provincial One-Day Challenge. Cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). First-class Cricket
First-class cricket, along with List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket, is one of the highest-standard forms of cricket. A first-class match is one of three or more days' scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams. Matches must allow for the teams to play two innings each, although in practice a team might play only one innings or none at all. South Western Districts (cricket Team)
South Western Districts, known as SW Districts or SWD, is a South African first class cricket team based in the Western Cape city of Oudtshoorn, representing approximately the eastern half of Western Cape province. They form part of the Cape Cobras franchise, and play their home games at the Oudtshoorn Recreation Ground. Playing history South Western Districts played their inaugural first-class match in the Currie Cup in 1904 at Mossel Bay against Western Province but did not play another first-class match for 102 years. The South Western Districts Cricket Board was granted associate status by Cricket South Africa in 2004 and the team has taken part in the Provincial Three-Day Challenge and Provincial One-Day Challenge competitions since the 2006-07 season. 2019–20 CSA 3-Day Provincial Cup
The 2019–20 CSA 3-Day Provincial Cup was a first-class cricket competition that took place in South Africa from October 2019 to April 2020. On 16 March 2020, Cricket South Africa suspended all cricket in the country for 60 days due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On 24 March 2020, Easterns and KwaZulu-Natal were named as the joint-winners of the tournament. KwaZulu-Natal finished top of group B, with Easterns named joint-winners despite not topping their group, but played one match fewer than other teams, with their victory coming via an average points calculation. List A cricket is a classification of the limited-overs (one-day) form of the sport of cricket, with games lasting up to eight hours. In a Twenty20 game, the two teams have a single innings each, which is restricted to a maximum of 20 overs. 2021–22 CSA Provincial T20 Knock-Out
The 2021–22 CSA Provincial T20 Knock-Out was a Twenty20 cricket tournament that was played in South Africa in September and October 2021. It was the first Twenty20 tournament to be played in the country since Cricket South Africa restructured its domestic setup, and featured all fifteen provincial sides and the national under-19 team. From Pool A, South Western Districts and Western Province both advanced to the play-offs. In Group B, Knights and Titans finished first and second respectively to qualify.
