Jeyaraj Fernandopulle
Jeyaraj Fernandopulle ( si, ජෙයරාජ් ප්රනාන්දුපුල්ලේ, ta, ஜெயராஜ் பெர்னான்டோபுள்ளே, 11 January 1953 – 6 April 2008) was a Sri Lankan politician who served as a cabinet Minister and a Member of Parliament in Sri Lanka. He was a Roman Catholic and hailed from a minority ethnic group Colombo Chetties. Early life Fernandopulle was born on the 11 January 1953 in Walihena, Kochchikade (about 12 km north of Negombo). He has done the preliminary education (up to grade 1) at ''Ave Maria Convent'', Negombo, then entered ''Maris Stella College'', Negombo for primary and secondary education. In 1972 Fernandopulle became a teacher after leaving the school, but left teaching to become a lawyer in 1974. He passed out from the Sri Lanka Law College in 1977 as an Attorney-at-law. Lakshman De Alwis
Lakshman de Alwis (March 17, 1940 – April 6, 2008) was the National coach for Athletics in Sri Lanka. De Alwis started his career in Athletics when was a school boy at ''Moratuwa Vidyalaya'' and in 1958 awarded as Junior National Champion for Athletics after winning the 100m and 200m events. He also represented Sri Lanka in 1959 for the All-India meet. He earned national record in 1962 for the 400m, and was a member of the 4 × 200 m Relay Quartet. De Alwis born to Carolina and Richard de Alwis. He studied at Moratuwa Vidyalaya (Moratuwa) and participated in athletics also there. He was married and the father of three children, a daughter and two sons. He was killed in a suicide bomber explosion at Weliveriya on April 6, 2008 at the age of 68. Mahinda Rajapakse
Mahinda Rajapaksa ( si, මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ, ta, மஹிந்த ராஜபக்ஷ; born Percy Mahendra Rajapaksa; 18 November 1945) is a Sri Lankan politician. Sri Lanka Law College (abbreviated as SLLC), formerly known as Ceylon Law College, is a law college, and the only legal institution where one can enroll as a attorney-at-law in Sri Lanka. It was established in 1874, under the then Council of Legal Education, in order to impart a formal legal education to those who wished to become advocates and proctors in Ceylon. The main building of the college was constructed in 1911. It is located on Hulftsdorp Street in Colombo, Sri Lanka. As of late 2021, the current principal is Dr. Athula Pathinayake. Sri Lankan Chetties (, ) also known as Colombo Chetties, is an ethnicity in the island of Sri Lanka. Formerly considered a Sri Lankan Tamil caste, they were classified as a separate ethnic group in the 2001 census. They were a class of Tamil speaking Hindu Vaishyas, who migrated from the South India under Portuguese rule. Etymology The word ''Chetty'' is a generic term denoting all merchant and trading groups of South India. The word is thought to have been derived from the Tamil word ''Etti'', an honorific title bestowed on the leading merchants by Tamil monarchs.
