Jevišovice (german: Jaispitz) is a town in Znojmo District in the South Moravian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 1,100 inhabitants. The historic town centre is well preserved and is protected by law as an Cultural monument (Czech Republic)#Monument zones, urban monument zone. Geography Jevišovice is located about north of Znojmo and southwest of Brno. It lies in the Jevišovice Uplands. It is situated on the right bank of the Jevišovka (river), Jevišovka River. The Jevišovice Reservoir is built on the river. History The first written mention of Jevišovice is from 1289. Until 1945, it was a town. In 2007, Jevišovice was restored the title of a town. Moravské zemské muzeum (English: ''Moravian Museum'') is a museum in Brno in the Czech Republic. It is the second-largest and second-oldest museum in the country. Joann Anton Venuto, also styled as Jan Antonín Venuto, (24 May 1746 – 1 April 1833) was a Czech clergyman, watercolorist, draftsman, and cartographer. He specialized in the paintings of Bohemian and Moravian castles. Biography Venuto was born on 24 May 1746 in Jevišovice, in the Margraviate of Moravia (present-day Czech Republic). Jean-Louis Raduit De Souches
Jean-Louis Raduit de Souches (16 August 1608 to 12 August 1682), also known as Ludwig de Souches, was a French-born professional soldier who spent a number of years in the Swedish Army before switching to Imperial service in 1642. Although he was a capable officer who reached the rank of Field Marshal, his career was marred by a tendency to quarrel with his colleagues and superiors. Born into a family of minor French Protestant nobility, de Souches went into exile after the Siege of La Rochelle in 1629. He served in the Swedish army when it entered the Thirty Years' War against Emperor Ferdinand III and by 1642 was colonel of an infantry regiment. However, he fell out with his superior officer and switched sides, joining the Imperial army. He established his reputation in the defence of Brno against the Swedes in 1645 and was promoted Field Marshal in 1664.
