Jett Williams (baseball)
Jett Michael Williams (born November 3, 2003) is an American professional baseball shortstop in the New York Mets organization. Amateur career Williams attended Rockwall-Heath High School in Heath, Texas, where he played baseball. As a junior in 2021, he batted .347 with five home runs and 38 RBIs. During his senior season in 2022, he hit .411 with seven home runs, 41 RBIs, and ten doubles. He was named District 10-6A Offensive MVP and ended the season as a top prospect for the upcoming draft. ''The Dallas Morning News'' named him their Offensive Player of the Year. Williams originally committed to play college baseball at Texas A&M University, but switched to Mississippi State University. Shortstop
Shortstop, abbreviated SS, is the baseball or softball fielding position between second and third base, which is considered to be among the most demanding defensive positions. Historically the position was assigned to defensive specialists who were typically poor at batting and were often placed at the bottom of the batting order. Today, shortstops are often able to hit well and many are placed at the top of the lineup. In the numbering system used by scorers to record defensive plays, the shortstop is assigned the number 6. Brooklyn Cyclones
The Brooklyn Cyclones are a Minor League Baseball team of the South Atlantic League and the High-A affiliate of the New York Mets. They are based in the New York City borough of Brooklyn, and play at Maimonides Park, just off the Coney Island Boardwalk.
