The early-mid-1990s English band Submarine followed in the footsteps of many of its contemporaries, including The Flaming Lips, Mercury Rev, Boo Radleys and My Bloody Valentine with its own vision of noise pop, before morphing into Jetboy DC, which continues sporadically to this day. Moose (band)
Moose were a British indie rock band who formed in London in 1990. The original line-up included Russell Yates (guitar, vocals), K.J. "Moose" McKillop (guitar), Damien Warburton (drums), and Jeremy Tishler (bass). After Warburton and Tishler left the band they were replaced with Lincoln Fong (bass), his brother Russell (guitar), and Richard Thomas (drums). Other members have included Mig Moorland (drums) and Mick Conroy (keyboards). Moose released two EPs on Hut Records. Within the next few years the band released two albums on Play It Again Sam. Despite a strong critical response, Moose’s albums continued to sell few copies. Madam is a five-piece London based band, fronted by Sukie Smith. Their music is often described as possessing a smoky, nocturnal quality with a pop sensibility that has led to comparisons to artists such as Portishead, The Velvet Underground, PJ Harvey and Cat Power, as well as more mainstream artists such as Goldfrapp and Fleetwood Mac. Sophia is a British indie rock band consisting of Robin Proper-Sheppard—former member of The God Machine—and the Sophia collective, a group of musicians who collaborate with Sophia. "Oh My Love" from the album ''People are like Seasons'' became an indie hit in several countries. Sidi Bou Said were a London-based alternative rock band, who existed during the 1990s, formed by Claire Lemmon (guitar and vocals), Gayl Harrison (bass guitar) and Melanie Woods (drums and vocals). Their music combined an indie rock/folk sound with complex arrangements and literate lyrics.
