Jessica Zhu
Jessica Zhu (born October 22, 1986) is a Chinese-American pianist who is currently undertaking a doctorate in musical arts (DMA) under the supervision of Paul Roberts and Caroline Rae at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, in London. She previously received a Master in Performance (MPerf) and an Artist Diploma with distinction from the Guildhall, where she studied with full scholarship as a 2009 Marshall Scholar. Having made her debut at age 19 with the Houston Symphony in Jones Hall, she has soloed with numerous orchestras, including the Clear Lake Symphony, the Irving Symphony in Dallas, Fort Worth Civic Symphony, Brazos Valley Symphony in College Station, the Moores School Symphony Orchestra, and the Houston Civic Symphony. Zhu has also performed at the Texas Music Festival, Aspen Summer Festival in Colorado and the Banff Arts Centre in Canada. Stanislav Ioudenitch (born December 5, 1971) is an Uzbekistani-born American pianist, known for winning the Nancy Lee and Perry R. Bass Gold Medal at the Eleventh Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2001, jointly with Olga Kern, as well as the Steven De Groote Memorial Award for Best Performance of Chamber Music. He has also won top prizes at the Busoni, Kapell, and Maria Callas Competitions, as well as at the 1998 Palm Beach Invitational and the 2000 New Orleans International. Sussex International Piano Competition
The Sussex International Piano Competition is a music competition that takes place in Worthing, West Sussex, England. It was founded in 2010 by Worthing Symphony Orchestra (WSO) artistic director and conductor John Gibbons. It takes place at the Assembly Hall in Worthing, a venue noted for its acoustics, which, according to the organisers, are some of the best in Europe. The competitors are accompanied by the Worthing Symphony Orchestra. The second edition of the competition was won by Poom Prommachart of Thailand, who in the Grand Final played Rachmaninoff’s 3rd piano concerto. The third edition of the competition was won by Varvara Tarasova of Russia who played Chopin's second piano concerto. Hobby Center For The Performing Arts
The Hobby Center for the Performing Arts is a theater in Houston, Texas, United States. Opened to the public in 2002, the theater is located downtown on the edge of the Houston Theater District. Hobby Center features glass walls with views of Houston's skyscrapers, Tranquility Park and Houston City Hall. The Hobby Center is named for former Texas lieutenant governor and Houston businessman, William P. Hobby, Jr., whose family foundation donated the naming gift for the center. Worthing Symphony Orchestra
The Worthing Symphony Orchestra is the professional orchestra for the town of Worthing. It is the only professional orchestra in the English county of West Sussex. Founded in 1926, the orchestra was the first municipal orchestra in Britain. The WSO's principal conductor (1997 to present) is John S Gibbons. The orchestra is led by Julian Leaper, who also leads the City of London Sinfonia. As of 2008, the orchestra was made up of around 55-60 musicians. The orchestra plays at the Assembly Hall in Worthing, which according to the WSO's principal conductor, John Gibbons, has some of the finest acoustics in Europe. Notable musicians to have played with the WSO at the Assembly Hall include Julian Lloyd Webber, and Nicola Benedetti. Abbey Henry Simon (January 8, 1920 – December 18, 2019) was an American concert pianist, teacher, and recording artist. He was a protégé of Josef Hofmann at the Curtis Institute of Music and a winner of the Naumburg International Piano Competition in 1940. He was called a "supervirtuoso" by ''The New York Times''. Education Simon began lessons with David Saperton at the age of five.
