Jessica Nery Plata Noriega (born 17 May 1994) is a Mexican professional boxer. She has held the WBA world female light flyweight title since 2022 and challenged for the WBC interim female light flyweight title in 2017. As of May 2020, she is ranked as the world's second best active female light flyweight by BoxRec. Professional career Plata made her professional debut on 9 July 2011, scoring a four-round majority decision (MD) victory against Estrella Valverde at the Jose Cuervo Salon in Mexico City, Mexico. After three more wins, one by stoppage, she defeated Ibeth Zamora Silva via unanimous decision (UD) over ten rounds, capturing the WBC Youth female light flyweight title on 21 April 2012 at the Estadio José Lerma Pérez in Ocoyoacac, Mexico. Light flyweight, also known as junior flyweight or super strawweight, is a weight class in boxing. Professional boxing The weight limit at light flyweight in professional boxing is 108 pounds (49 kilograms). When New York legalized boxing in 1920, the law stipulated a "junior flyweight" class, with a weight limit of 99 pounds. When the National Boxing Association was formed in 1921, it also recognized this weight class. However, on January 19, 1922, the NBA decided to withdraw recognition of the junior flyweight division. On December 31, 1929, the New York State Athletic Commission also abolished the junior flyweight class. No champion had been crowned in this division prior to its abolition. Auditorio Benito Juarez is a 4,000-seat indoor arena located in Veracruz, Veracruz, Mexico. It was built in 1972 and renovated in 2004. Place Bell is a multi-purpose arena in Laval, Quebec, Canada. The complex includes a 10,000 seat main arena which is the home of the Laval Rocket of the American Hockey League and two smaller community ice rinks, one of which has Olympic size ice.
