Jessica Dereschuk
Jessica Ann Dereschuk (born May 3, 1983) is an American television personality and beauty queen from Stacy, Minnesota, who has competed in the Miss USA pageant. Dereschuk was born to Gregory and Valarie Vaught Dereschuk. She has one brother named Nicholas. One sister named Alexandra. Dereschuk won the Miss Minnesota USA title in her first attempt in late 2003. She represented Minnesota in the Miss USA 2004 pageant broadcast live from the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, California, in April 2004. Dereschuk did not place in the nationally televised pageant, which was won by Shandi Finnessey of Missouri. As Miss Minnesota USA, Dereschuk worked to increase youth voter participation, supporting the Minnesota Secretary of State's "Get Out the Vote" initiatives. The Miss Minnesota USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Minnesota in the Miss USA pageant. It is directed by Future Productions based in Savage, Minnesota since its inception in 1995, which also directs the state pageants for Colorado, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin and Wyoming. Barbara Elaine Peterson was the first Miss Minnesota USA to be crowned Miss USA (in 1976), and was also the first Miss USA to not place in the Miss Universe pageant. Her sister, Polly Peterson Bowles, was Miss Minnesota USA 1981. In 2016, Halima Aden became the first contestant to compete wearing a burkini, and the first to wear a hijab the entire time. Originally from Waseca, Minnesota, she won her first state crown in 1995, when she became Miss Minnesota Teen USA. Miss USA 2004 was the 53rd Miss USA pageant, held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California on April 12, 2004. The winner of the beauty pageant was Shandi Finnessey, who became the first winner from the state of Missouri. Finnessey was crowned by outgoing Miss USA Susie Castillo, of Massachusetts. The Miss Missouri USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state Missouri in the Miss USA pageant. It is directed by Vanbros and Associates, based in Lenexa, Kansas. In 1993, Missouri joined the Vanbros group of state pageants for the Miss USA and Teen USA system. Missouri has had only one Miss USA, Shandi Finnessey, who placed as 1st runner-up to Jennifer Hawkins of Australia in the Miss Universe 2004 pageant. Shandi Ren Finnessey (born June 9, 1978) is an American actress, model, TV host and beauty queen. She is best known for winning the Miss USA title, as Miss Missouri USA. She previously held the title of Miss Missouri 2002 and competed in Miss America, where she won a preliminary award. She placed as first runner-up at the Miss Universe 2004 competition. She is one of three women to have been both Miss Missouri USA and Miss Missouri and the only Missourian to have been Miss USA.
