Jessica Bygate
Jessica Bygate (born 10 January 1992) is a former professional basketball player from New Zealand. She has played for the Melbourne Boomers in the WNBL and now lives is New South Wales. She is now a coach and an exercise scientist. Early life Bygate grew up in Nelson and received her secondary education at Nelson College for Girls. After school, she attended Lincoln University for a year. Professional career WBC Bygate began her career in New Zealand, playing for the Canterbury Wildcats in the WBC. She then moved to the Nelson Sparks, where she won her first WBC championship. She then spent a season for the Junior Tall Ferns, before moving to the Australian leagues. College Bygate began her college career in 2011 at Moberly Area Community College in Moberly, Missouri. Women's National Basketball League
The Women's National Basketball League (WNBL) is the pre-eminent professional women's basketball league in Australia. It is currently composed of eight teams. The league was founded in 1981 and is the women's counterpart to the National Basketball League (NBL). Several WNBL teams have NBL counterparts. The Adelaide Lightning, Melbourne Boomers, Perth Lynx, Southside Flyers and Sydney Uni Flames are the current WNBL teams sharing a market with an NBL team (the Townsville Fire and University of Canberra Capitals shared a market with the Townsville Crocodiles and Canberra Cannons respectively, before both NBL clubs became defunct). Lincoln University (Māori: ''Te Whare Wānaka o Aoraki'') is a New Zealand university that was formed in 1990 when Lincoln College, Canterbury was made independent of the University of Canterbury. The New Zealand's elite women's basketball team is affectionately known to their home fans as the Tall Ferns. The team has been coached by Guy Molloy since 2018. The assistant coaches are Aik Ho and Jody Cameron. The Tall Ferns have a FIBA world ranking of 34. NBL1 North, formerly the Queensland Basketball League (QBL), is a semi-professional basketball league in Queensland and Northern Territory, Australia, comprising both a men's and women's competition. In 2020, Basketball Queensland partnered with the National Basketball League (NBL) to bring NBL1 to Queensland.
