Jesse Kiehl
Jesse Kiehl (born April 17, 1976) is a Democratic member of the Alaska Legislature representing the State Senate's Q district and a former member of the Assembly of the City and Borough of Juneau, Alaska. Early life Jesse Kiehl was born on April 17, 1976 in Anchorage Alaska, and graduated from Steller Secondary School in 1994. Kiehl attended Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington and received a bachelor of arts degree in 1998, with both a major in theatre and a major with honors in politics. Political career From 2000 to 2018, Kiehl worked as staff to Juneau-area members of the Alaska State Senate. Until 2009 he worked for Kim Elton, and began working for Dennis Egan upon his appointment to replace Elton. In 2011, Kiehl ran for local office, beating Bradley Fluetsch by a large margin. Alaska State Capitol
The Alaska State Capitol is the building that hosts the Alaska Legislature and the offices of the Governor of Alaska and Lieutenant Governor of Alaska. Located in the state's capital, Juneau, the building was opened on February 14, 1931, as a federal building. After Alaska gained statehood, the building became home to the Alaska Legislature and has retained the function ever since. History Upon the purchase of Russian America, Sitka, Alaska became the Territory Capital in 1867. After the capital was moved to Juneau, the Legislature met in rented rooms around the city. Construction for a capitol building was partly funded by the United States Congress, but they refused to give more funding. Dennis Egan
Dennis William Egan (March 3, 1947 – June 28, 2022) was an American politician who was a member of the Alaska Senate representing Juneau from April 19, 2009, until January 15, 2019. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously served as the Mayor of Juneau from February 13, 1995, to October 3, 2000, and was a member of the local assembly prior to that. Outside of politics, he was known for his work as a radio broadcaster, most notably for KINY, and was inducted to the Alaskan Broadcaster Association's Hall of Fame in 2001. Early life Egan was born in Juneau, Territory of Alaska, on March 3, 1947.
