Jesen Therrien
Jesen Dygestile-Therrien (born March 18, 1993) is a Canadian professional baseball pitcher for the Trois-Rivières Aigles of the Frontier League. He has previously played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Philadelphia Phillies. Career Therrien played college baseball at Ahuntsic College in Québec City, Canada. Philadelphia Phillies Therrien was drafted by the New York Mets in 36th round, with the 1,082nd overall selection, of the 2010 Major League Baseball draft, but did not sign. He was then drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 17th round, with the 541st overall selection, of the 2011 Major League Baseball draft and signed. He made his professional debut in 2012 with the rookie-level Gulf Coast Phillies, posting a 3.46 ERA in 12 games. In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk. 2017 World Baseball Classic
The 2017 World Baseball Classic (WBC) was an international professional baseball competition, composed of 16 competing nations, held from March 6 to March 22, 2017. It was the fourth iteration of the World Baseball Classic. The first-round hosts were Seoul, Tokyo, Miami, and Zapopan. The second-round hosts were Tokyo and San Diego, and the championship round was played in Los Angeles. Twelve of the 16 competing nations qualified based on their performance during the first round of the 2013 tournament; the remaining four nations were the winners of four qualification tournaments that took place in February, March, and September 2016. The 2017 Atlanta Braves season was the Braves' 52nd season in Atlanta and 147th overall. This was the Braves' first season at SunTrust Park, after playing the previous 20 seasons at Turner Field. The Lehigh Valley IronPigs are a Minor League Baseball team of the International League (IL) and the Triple-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies. They are located in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and are named in reference to pig iron, used in the manufacturing of steel, for which the Lehigh Valley region of Pennsylvania is well known.
