Jerry Pinto
Jerry Pinto (born 1966) is a Mumbai-based Indian English poet, novelist, short story writer, translator, as well as journalist. Pinto's works include '' Helen: The Life and Times of an H-Bomb'' (2006), which won the Best Book on Cinema Award at the 54th National Film Awards, ''Surviving Women'' (2000) and ''Asylum and Other Poems'' (2003). His first novel '' Em and the Big Hoom'' was published in 2012. Pinto won the Windham-Campbell prize in 2016 for his fiction. He was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award in 2016 for his novel ''Em and the Big Hoom''. Background Jerry Pinto is a Roman Catholic of Goan origin, and grew up in Mahim Mumbai. Priya Kuriyan
Priya Kuriyan is an Indian comic book writer, illustrator and animation filmmaker, based in the city of Bengaluru, Karnataka. She is the author of the comic book ''Ammachi's Glass,'' and the author of the picture book and children's adaptation of the writer Perumal Murugan's acclaimed novel ''Poonachi''. Kuriyan was the recipient of the Big Little Book Award at the Mumbai Literature Festival in 2019. Anushka Ravishankar is an author of children's books, and co-founder of Duckbill Books, a publishing house. Early life Ravishankar was born in Nashik, and graduated in mathematics from Fergusson College, Pune in 1981. While at college, she was influenced by the works of Lewis Carroll, Edward Lear and Edward Gorey. After completing her post-graduation in operations research, Ravishankar worked with an IT firm in Nashik for a while. She became a full-time writer after the birth of her daughter. Baluta (autobiography)
''Baluta'' (Marathi बलुतं) is an autobiography by the Indian writer Daya Pawar, written in the Marathi language. Dangale considers it a remarkable representative of the autobiography genre of Marathi Dalit literature. According to Kalita, ''Baluta'' "introduced autobiographical writing" to Dalit literature. ''Baluta'' is seen by the ''Encyclopaedia of Indian Literature'' as an attempt by the writer to be personal yet "objective and representative", the title generalising the status of rural untouchables. ''Cobalt Blue'' is a 2013 fictional drama novel by Indian film director, screenwriter and playwright Sachin Kundalkar. It was the debut novel of Kundalkar and first published in 2006 in Marathi language, it was re-released in English in 2013 with translation by Jerry Pinto. The story follows two siblings, Tanay and Anuja, who fall in love with their paying guest at their house in Pune. The novel deals with the theme of sexuality, family and society.
