Jerry Navarro Elizalde
Jeremias "Jerry" Elizalde Navarro (22 May 1924 – 10 June 1999) was a Filipino artist. Early life and education As a young artist, Navarro was very passionate in creating new ways of art. He experimented with different kinds of art media such as oil, acrylic, and watercolor. He also tried making sculpture and mixed media. He uses the "incision painting" this method is applied on the stop surface by carving out the artist’s desired pattern on the stone materials and layering paint or plaster on the stone surface.Hennessy, N. San Jose de Buenavista, officially the Municipality of San Jose de Buenavista, ( krj, Banwa kang San Jose de Buenavista; hil, Banwa sang San Jose de Buenavista; tl, Bayan ng San Jose de Buenavista), is a 1st class municipality and capital of the province of Antique, Philippines. Virginia Ty-Navarro (5 July 1924 – 1996) was a Filipina sculptor, known nationwide for her sculpture "Statue of Our Lady Queen of Peace", which she completed in sixteen months on a 12 million peso budget. The sculpture is alternatively called "Our Lady of EDSA Shrine" and is located in Ortigas. Ty-Navarro was born on 5 July 1924. Ty-Navarro took a course in Fine Arts at the University of Santo Tomas where she studied under National Artist Carlos “Botong” Francisco and National Artist Victorio C. Edades during the Japanese occupation of the Philippines. She worked on metal sculptures, such as bronze. She followed a modernist style in her art. Some of her works are displayed at the National Museum of Fine Arts.
